any views on the new monster liked the look of the old one but run out of puff early on any one riden the new one to compare ?
No but it looks like a potentially super road bike. More powerful and comfortable with a manageable seat height and higher bars, it seems. Looks better than the original too. If I didn`t already have a Streetfighter.......
They look great. If I get back into road riding the 1200S is what I'll go for. Defintely thinking about it...
Get shot of the numberplate thingy and it'll look a lot better. DP do one for under the tail where it should've been for silly money.
I think there's some crackin super nakeds on the market, if I was going to buy yet another Monster I'd have to seriously consider the BMW 1000R, Speed Triple R, Tuono etc etc first. Probably still end up with the Monster though .......... I think
I not long now bubba , getting me panni suspension sorted this Wednesday at mct , leaving early if u fancy a ride down ,in the tranny of course, hes in stowmarket near Norwich I think, pleased I went for the monster now , will be out this week end if weather holds out so get ya leather chapps dusted off , btw did u see that beautifull head but, by pardew, only a Geordie would do that ha ha ,, giz a ring later me old swallower
I am going to test ride one this year for sure, my friend is going to let me know when they get it in. I suspect though they will be 'S' for Demo purely because that's all the bikes they had built for the launch test, so I assume they will put them in the dealers as demo's.
I also want to test one.will also be testing the BMW R9T.They both have a lower seat height than my SF,which I am now finding a bit of a struggle to get on.
I rode the Monster 1200S on Saturday at my local dealer. He had just taken delivery of this one and I got it with 6 miles on the clock. I currently ride a 1098 Streetfighter and this was to be a replacement. I've had Monsters in the past, most recently the M1100 (non-evo) that I chucked in for the SF. Very quickly then. Liked Styling Noise (even with OEM pipes it did sound real good) Electronics didn't interfere, can be customised and state is retained (unlike the KTM) Ride by wire worked well (cf MV) Decent ergonomics - though I'd want the seat in the high position (im 6'2") Got torque for days! Great kit - Brembo, Ohlins - all good. Very very easy to ride. Urban mode was a real surprise in fact. No need to slip the clutch < 20mph it was all so... refined and easy. Disliked Nothing tangible - Just didn't blow me away My foot (size 10's) had no clearance against the rearsets. Nothing new for Ducati. Rear brake - incredibly spongy and next to useless. Could just be an issue with this particular bike. It wouldn't cost me much to swap my SF for the M1200S. I'll decide tomorrow. I just wish it was a little more aggressive and intimidating. Couple of pics.
I'd be swapping the M1200S (assuming I bought it) as soon as they did so! But since the big SF never really sold I dont think they're planning on doing so. And that a real shame.
A 899 SF would meet my needs , I will try the monster but after sitting on one felt too much like my old S4r and I love my 848 SF - probably be a keeper , the grass isn't always greener  but abs would for me be appealing
How did it feel at 6ft 2 ergo wise? I take it the seat was in the lower position, if so do you know what rise you get going to the higher? when I rode the SF I always felt pretty good for space as they're good for tall people, I'd always hope they'd make a monster for taller folk as I found the 1100 a bit small (6ft 3)
