Monster 1200r Heated Grips..how To

  1. First of all, thanks for help on here re; ignition live connector at headstock.

So a step by step how to fitted Daytona micro switch heated grips.

First remove old grips. Slide a skinny screw driver or torx behind the old grips, spray with silicone. Then slide straight off without a fight..

Cut down the leads supplied with the new grips and fit new connectors.. 4F231E1C-25B0-4991-870E-663B4D9EDD2D.jpeg AB1B8EFC-0526-4AA8-A999-B26FE72B6E47.jpeg
connect to white connector at headstock. I had to reduce the size of the yellow weather seal that sits between the new connector and the Ducati connector. Maybe length of pins...any power problems then this is probably why. I am going to use clear silicone on this at a later date to make sure it cannot work loose. I need some anyway for the left hand grip.
Connect everything thing up, make sure it works! Ignition on. Hold down the micro switch for plus 5 seconds. Bingo... D64F69AD-C515-4DD3-A0F8-2DFE9D175CBD.jpeg DDE7EECD-C5FC-433B-9534-514218794E8F.jpeg F42FD747-47F2-45BC-9FB9-00C0E9EBB29F.jpeg

Once your happy. Fit the grips.
The throttle side needs the raised parts removed from the throttle tube. Sorry no photo. A very sharp knife, followed by coarse sandpaper works. Don't do what I did and not remove enough. I don't think it will be possible to remove the right hand one without damage. Certainly no adhesive is required on mine!!
Finally route the wires, this will be fairly obvious. If you keep the tails short as shown, all the connectors will tuck away nicely behind the the black cover where the white connector lives.
    Next..enjoy warm hands:cool:
