I'm taking delivery of a 1200R on Saturday and I've been trying to shop around for the best insurance deal, but it doesn't appear to be listed on any of the insurance company or comparison site lists. The 1200 and 1200S are present and correct, but no 1200R. Apparently this can be the case if the manufacturer hasn't yet logged a new model with the Association of British Insurers (ABI). I haven't phoned many brokers yet but the one quote I have so far is four times the best price I can find for a 1200S Stripe. Have any other owners encountered this problem? How did you go about sourcing a competitive price?
Thank you. I appreciate that this is the insurance section, but I posted in the Monster section to seek feedback from other 1200R owners, since there's a specific issue with this model not being listed on insurers' websites. I suspect those members are less likely to see the post here, so I might get general advice instead. That aside, I have tried the Ducati Insurance online system (which does list the model) and received a much more reasonable quote. Still almost double the 1200S, but much more like it.
I've got my M12R insured through Ducati Insurance - I believe 'BikeSure' also can provide quotes on the R too (don't have their number to hand)
