Hello, I have a 2001 Monster 750 Dark. I purchased a pair of Mivv mufflers that come with exhaust pipe extenders. I have a problem with alignment. the right side is on and seems to be at correct upward angle but the oval is not exactly vertical. Plus the muffler doesn't clear the axle nut. So it would hit when suspension is compressed. The left side is out in left field. I can't get it to look anything like the right side. The extenders to header pipe seem to be correct, I checked the part numbers. 9773D017S2DX is the right and the left is 9773D017S2SX This is the pipe stainless oval Oval - Mivv It is going on a 2001 Monster 750 Dark Has anyone ran into this issue?
Sounds like an issue with the silencer - can you swap them over or are they sided? Some pics might help too as hard to tell from just words - could be one part is bent or made incorrectly?? I'm running Silmoto headers but with cheap generic cans which can go on either side so in theory I could swap bits around for the best fit - assuming that yours might have the mounting brackets on the exhaust itself?
They rarely line up very well. Not just Mivv... The silencers will be a generic part and then sold with link pipes to suit the bike. Try rotating the link pipe to move the silencer position around. I wouldn't bank on getting them symmetrical though. You could try a spacer on the exhaust strap to move the silencer outward a bit to clear the axle nut. It's usually a case of trial and error then take the best result.
Adding spacers is what I’ll try, but I itched to tapir out for a spin, I put a slight ding on the right can. Went over a speed bump a bit too quickly. Dammit!! Very small ding though. But I think I have a bigger issue and may require a new topic. I had oil sitting in the space between fins behind the back cylinder. I sucked it out and dried it up. After the ride tonight I notice oil back in these areas. Plus the oil level was at the full mark before I left but when I returned it was over the full mark actually the whole sight glass was showing oil.
