Monster/916 Tank Swap - First Impressions

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Zhed46, Oct 24, 2015.

  1. Dropped the Monster off at Rosso Corse today for its radical plastic surgery.

Removed the big ugly Monster tank, the battery and ECU etc and offered up the 916 tank just to make sure it all fitted etc. The seat will need reshaping but it all fits and lines up pretty well.

Here's how it looks. More pics to follow when the work is completed.

I'm also considering whether to just go all out and have the Panigale subframe and seat unit grafted on. In for a penny, in for a pound.....?

  2. Looks much better are you also having a change of colour as the black hide's the 916 shape to much, dark green with red wheels something different maybe.

  3. Looks good :upyeah:
Dark green with red wheels :Nailbiting:

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. The Monster is metallic grey at the moment. I deliberately chose black as I like that colour (or absence thereof, for all the pedants) on bikes and cars. The colour I like least is........wait for it......dark green :p

  5. Red around the top of the tank with the rest green, same with tail piece red top green sides, you know you want to.

  6. It would look like a traffic light

I've also managed to do the colour change without shelling out for a respray. I already had the tank off my black 748 from years ago and I bought a black seat cowl on eBay, although the one in the pic isn't actually mine - it was just one that Ray happened to have in the workshop at the time.

  7. It will if you have indicators. Black and red tank then.

  8. Speaking of black and red, I saw this on eBay and was a little bit tempted
