Yes it’s an early monster with the right non chamfered exhausts etc. That’s the good news. What’s the bad? Well it’s in bits. I purchased this last year along with a ‘complete’ bike following the sad departure of forum member Mark (Darkness). This was his project he never got to finish. Not long last after receiving both bikes I very quickly i.e. immediately realised that the project bike was beyond me so rather than stick my head in the sand and the parts in a corner I sought a sympathetic soul that knew his Ducati’s. Off to Leeds I went and the airfix kit of a Monster was left in the capable hands of a certain Ducati John. I left it with him with the instruction of no rush to start working on it. This brings me to now. He’s taken stock of what’s there and given me a ballpark figure of reassembling. I’ve come to the conclusion that the best course of action now is to sell the whole lot on to someone with the skills to do a home build and end up with a relatively cheap early 900 Monster. John reckons the major parts alone (not including gaskets, hoses, etc) should = £3k and I’ll not be asking anywhere near that for the lot. I just don’t have the time, space or inclination to start sending out parts bit by bit and it would be a shame as it could easily be another 1993 bike back on the road for someone. I’d really like it to go to a proper enthusiast via the forums rather than out to the masses so I’ll wait a week to see if there’s any interest before going on eBay etc. Offers around £2k or thereabouts.
