More potentially obvious questions here What do we do ref workshop manuals for a 999 If as has been advised I should drop the forks through the yolks ,by how much and where's the safest place to lift the bike from to do it Thanks in advance
I have a copy of the workshop manual here.. feel free to download https://www.dropbox.com/s/poccxsqf7p...20Workshop.pdf Just undo the yoke bolts and a little tap with a rubber mallet on the top yoke will drop the forks lower. Get the suspension set up properly and you will have a sweet handling bike
Why is it necessary to do this? I don't think mine have been dropped through the yokes and it's been fine for the past 25'000 miles.
Glidd, not all of us are able to bend space and reality to their wishes. Some of us need to work the geometry a little.

Whilst working on your bike, why not take the time to work on your sense of humour too? Your post just conjured up visions of you lifting the bike up (in effect, 'dropping the forks through the yokes') and ending up with super long 'chopper' style forks, that was all!
Thanks for that Mr C - very useful, especially as I'm new to the marque & hoping to get my 999 on Thursday
