As per a thread on Ducati.ms , what would you name as the top 15 most collectable ducaties built by the factory in the last 15 years ? Edit to most collectable Ducati bikes ever.
At just over 15 years, probably any genuine UK model 748SPS as only 100 were ever imported in the three years they were available up to 1999. Also the Mike Hailwood MHR I would imagine. The 2002 full Ohlins 748R would also be a strong candidate in the future.
996R. 1st teststretta. Bayliss/WSBk championship connection. 999R Xerox. As above+best looking ducati race rep. Facelift 999R. 1199S tricolore. 848 evo corse SE red/black. 1198S and R corse edition The Bayliss and Bostrum 998S's. Sport Classic 1000S(fairing)red MH900evo. PS1000. Monster S4RS. D16RR
The rarest of the 999's with the colour scheme of 2 world championships (Fila 999R) will undoubtedly be the best 999 to have as they only made 200 to celebrate the 200th WSB win. Yes I am biased but personal colour preferences aside, it has it all. The most collectable (read highest % financial gain) Ducati of the last 15 years is probably going to be my 999 Prototype No1 as it is the only known hand built 'pre' pre serial bike to leave the factory
I would have added the 749R, esp 2004 model into that list, esp as it raced in the Supersports out of the box so to speak. Interesting to google differences between the 999 & 749 R models.
This thread would have been more interesting if the OP hadn't specified "the last 15 years". I'd be more interested in the most collectible Ducatis full stop. Not that I am thinking of collecting any. Purely entertainment value.
