Okay, so following on from the Most Important Ducati Thread, how about the person who has had the most influence on where Ducati are now? My Suggested Contenders are: Fabio Taglioni, Massimo Bordi, Massimo Tamburini, Paul Smart, Mike Hailwood, Carl Fogarty, Miguel Angel Galluzzi, the Castaglioni brothers?
Bayliss for me, massive fan over the years......watching him last season riding in the asbk gave me the desire to trade the Bmw in for the Ducati.
No contest. Current CEO - Claudio Domenicali. Joined Ducati in 1991 Head of technical office from 1994-96 Head of all racing and technical matters from 1996 to 1999 Been CEO since 1999 - he led creation of the Ducati we have today
My personal nomination is Massimo Bordi. He took the outdated bevel drive twins and the air cooled Pantah engine and developed the 4 valve heads, water cooling and fuel injection into the 851 superbike, in so doing he produced machines that could compete with the Japenese 4 cylinder bikes. All the subsequent superbikes, 888, 916, 999, 1098 etc. are all developments from this original design.
Pierre Terblanche We all hated the style of the 999/749 now we like them. Sportclassic, going up in value, designed the first Hypermotard, Multistrada. MH900E. He designed and created some fantastic bikes but we’re all perhaps a bit too early, ahead of the time.
