My usual MOT Station as closed down. Can anyone recommend a Ducati friendly one in the north west area? Do not want some vindictive tester failing it due to noise issues. First test for the 1200R Monster and even with the baffles in the Termis,it still sound quite loud. Thank you.
yOU DONT 'FAIL' AN mot DUE TO NOISE (FROM EXHAUST) caps oops. You will just get an advisory, which is meaningless.
That's good to know. I know theirs no official test but thought you could still be failed on it at the testers discretion. Thanks
Bootsam is right, it is just an advisory but I put the dB killers in for the test because I don’t want to piss off the tester.
I had an “ Exhaust noisy” advisory for a fully EU compliant exhaust at the last MoT and when challenged, the tester stated that his take on the latest government guidelines was that any motorcycle with an aftermarket exhaust fitted will get a exhaust noisy advisory, regardless. Andy
i've failed a Subaru for "EXCESSIVE" noise from an exhaust. unless somethings changed since i last MOT'd a vehicle. it is there on the MOT manual. i never knew he was a traffic cop at the time either. honest.
Well, then theres a shitload of stations round here if the cars going up our hill are anything to go by. Most of them sound shit.
I really should have qualified what I wrote previously. I got an advisory on my M1200S with full termi system without dB killers fitted. Since then I’ve fitted the dB killers for the test. I can’t really say more than that.
Bob has MOT,d a few of my bikes including my current Hyper with termis no issue Wheelton Motorcylces – Service | Repair | MOT (wheeltonmotorcycles.co.uk)
Managed to get it done mate but that's good to know for future. Close by also. My Hypers next, end of next month.
