MOT Today Rant

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by YellowDuc, Apr 2, 2014.

  1. So my 900ss was in for MOT today. Same garage I always use and where it has been for MOT last twice.

Tester tells me my pipes are too loud - the same tester who has passed it the last two times!!!!!!!!

Bike passed in the end, but my Termi's are marked underneath ' not for road use' apparently! Funny that cos they been like that all the time.

Just wanted to rant cos I had a crap day all round and this ust p**sed me right off all-round.

Anyone else had this type of crap?

    Cheers

  2. 2/10. Must rant better in future.

  3. Had a fail for mine with termi's fitted
took it elsewhere and it passed

  4. Mine failed because a lock stop screw had rattled free and escaped. Plus I had no glued my clutch side hand grip. Plus I hadn't noticed (as i never use it) that my rear brake didn't work. I hadn't adjusted it for the new rear sets. 10 min job all round. My fault for not checking really.

  5. Yes you have a point El. I must try harder, I was just so bloody annoyed by the whole situation. I know the score with the law so to speak but have had many, many bikes from this guy and he knows I don't take the piss.

Must be an off day for him. Bloody bike was clean as a whistle as well, a testers dream. Got it wet on the way back which made my dayl :-(

Oh dear that is quite a list!!! Is that Hartley Hair??

  7. in twenty years of testing i have only ever failed one car for excessive noise, it was a scobby and i wont say what profession he was in. i got no pleasure from it.

  8. But why pass it twice before without any complaint or even a mention of it? Interested in a testers point of view

  9. vosa in town?

  10. Sometimes you just gotta take the rough with the smooth.

  11. Ah mate, perhaps cos when I asked him he actually said 'I don't want the get wrong off the VOSA man' I have just had the V5 changed at DVLA as VIN number has been wrong for 14 years, but MOT cert has old number on. It's just the year of manufacture, should be a 'Y' and cert still has the 'X' on.

So all round bit of a mess

  12. our Harley ironhead sportster failed mot as lock stops were not fitted!! this after an argument is the same set up and tester that had passed it at the same garage for the last 4 years before. and as we bought it with mot. BUT THEN the garage had had a visit from VOSA a few weeks before when they got caught logged onto a MOT test car that was sat on a trailer outside... the VOSA man was sat in his car in the car park on his laptop. another thing that buzzes VOSA is when people travel 20 odd miles for an MOT and pass 5 or more test centres on the way.. this alerts them and pressures the garage

  13. I got chatting the the chap who tested mine recently, he wasn't interested in smaller number plates or noisy exhausts (unless the owner was clearly taking the piss) he was interested in making sure the bike was safe, roadworthy and fit for purpose.

Your tester must have recent had an inspection from VOSA
