Hi All, wondering if anyone out there has any experience with installing a motogadget motoscope mini unit on a 1000DS? It's way out of my league of knowledge base. Not sure if it's possible to get the unit to operate with the original ECU and security features, can anyone shed any light? Here's picture of the project... Thanks in advance, Bez
Can't help with your question other than to say there are a lot more 'classic' MTS owners on multistrada.net which has been running way longer than this forum. That's your project bike??.............nice!...........more info and pics please ;-)
Cheers Andy. It's a bike I picked up last summer in the UK, it's an 03 1000 DS that had 2500 miles on the clock (faulty read out but verified by MOT's) and one owner. Anyway, I was going to attempt the project myself but I had a chat to a builder in Barcelona about another bike he had for sale and ended up giving him the project as he was so keen to do a Ducati and made me an offer I couldn't financially refuse for the opportunity. David at Adhoc has had it for almost a year. I did tell him there was no hurry. I will post another snap, but as it's going to be featured in a few magazines etc, I will let the builder take all the glory. The tank is a one off. We did try go the economical option with a hypermotard tank/inner shell, but it was just not going to work as it was too high. Engine is all stock but socks are being used instead of the original airbox, custom 2 into exhaust with custom baffles (will come to that hurdle when I get her back to UK for an MOT) There will be a seat pad for a pillion and we retained the old rear pillion sets for a relatively quick change 2 up option (should my wife get the urge)... The only hurdle left to sort is the wretched ECU and motogadget unit to replace the crappy stock MTS cluster and some possible re mapping required for the exhaust. Glad you like it, it's going to have it's fair share of lovers and haters, just how I like it! Thanks for the .net tip, I will post on there now.
Cool project, don't blame you for handing over to an 'expert' especially ivo the 'deal'......I've not got the skill (or patience!!) to go for a project like this nor the cash to have someone else do the build but I do have a hankering for something so different and individual - bet you can't wait to get your hands on it! Do post a few more pics, before, incourse and after would be good.......I'm sure a few more shots/details will make for a good lead up to the magazine article - which mag/when?
That looks the dog's bollox Wonder if it's worth speaking to someone like Scorpio Electronics. He certainly knows plenty about Ducati clocks, but whether he can deal with the ecu I don't know.
We have had success with the 749/999 in running the bike without the OEM clocks. This was achieved by disabling the immo in the ECU. The only issues was that there was no input to the ECU of barometric pressure as this was sent via Canbus from the dash. May work on the Muttly.
Cheers Guys, I have sent an inquiry to Scorpio and will give Duck John a call also. And yes, I am looking forward to taking her for a blast.
Hi Bezza, It's my favourite multistrada build ever! I was thinking about modding mine for a while, when I got a bikeexif newsletter with your bike..I fell in love with it. I just asked for a quotation at adhoc, but it's way too much for my budget. So I still want to do it myself. David, otherwise was very helpful, I was asking him about the exhaust (one simple, but clever modification - one of the best bits on the bike I'd like to do something similar, of course, not exactly the same, and I also ended up at motogadget's page, and was thinking about rewiring mine with m-unit, and also fitting a custom tacho/speedometer. Is there any progression in this project? I'd appreciate, if you'd inform me about it, if it's not a secret. by the way, is your bike rewired in any way? with the motogadget thingies I'd like to simplify the wiring loom, but heard about the ecu-immobilizer combo, so do you know, if I keep the factory speedo, will there be any issue with the m-unit? Yours is comletely without a gauge at the moment, or with the factory one? Thank you, Bence
