Just an awareness/calendar post really - this day of action is called 'Hands off Biking!' I believe. Similar to last September's run with attracted 40,000 bikes apparently, it aims to highlight a whole list of legislative changes that are on their way from Europe. There are around a dozen 'start' points listed across the UK but I guess the place to bring maximum awareness has to be London - hope the weather isn't like today though..
Guess what else is going off that weekend? Ducati - World Ducati Week http://www.mag-uk.org/en/index/a6296
The last "protest ride" really raised public awareness, AND got the attention of the British government. The current position is that the "anti-tampering" proposals, along with compulsary day-glo, compulsary ABS etc, are now being challenged - the EU commision can provide no evidence to support the need for them, and so there is no legal need for them... This view is being suooported by the British government, and by several of our MEPs. Because of this, the vote on implementation has been delayed again - this time until September.So... Protests do work ( as part of a co-ordinated campaign ).If you value your freedom of choice, your freedom to ride your bike, make an effort to join this protest ride.More details can be found on MAG's web-site...
