MPs payrise

  1. What, no one talking about the 11%?

    worth every penny...

  2. I think £66k is not much for an MP. A pay rise of 11% at a time of 'austerity' is a tad insensitive.

  6. not much more than a couple of kitchen fitters i know. but am i right in saying they still get some sort off pay out if they lose there seat?

  7. I agree with John £66k isn't much for an MP. Even MP's deserve a fair pay. The civil servants get paid way more. A lot more. A fucking lot more. (obviously talking about the execs, not the fireman, nurses or teachers etc)

  8. sorted for you……...

  9. Hehe...okey dokey Plod. :upyeah:

  10. They do, although I can't remember the details. Their pension rights accrue very quickly to very generous levels.

  11. On the face of it the salary isn't enough given their repsonsibility. But, add expense benefits, pension, gold goodbye at end of term, and you cam go from being a regular jo electrician earning 35k a year the hard way to pretty much not having to work again post term....and if you want to companies queue up to give you a job

but the fact remains. If you want real world people (and I'm sure even AndyB wants that ;-) ) then you have to make sure they can afford to carry out all their duties and support their families

  12. yip, i should of been a kitchen fitter.

  13. which job are we talking about here?

  14. The big job...running our country...no hold on politicians not civil servants

  15. Civil servant run the country. Politicians just set policy and fight for the departments budget. Well according to Sr Humphrey thats how it is.

  16. SirHumphrey 1950 you mean? Lol

  17. Sir Francis urquhart ;), Alan B'stard all far too close to the truth

  18. They are just the front men. The people who really run the country are the unelected EU Commissioners.

I feel another thread coming on.
