On the Multistrada 1200, specifically on the 2013 model - is the seat height able to be reduced at all ? It seems to list on some sales at 850mm but I have seen some listed at 825mm ... I have some posts that suggest it can be dropped by an inch or so by moving the spacers about under the drivers seat, and some posts that say it isn't adjustable at all. Whats the reality ?
Adjustable seat height (two position) was introduced in 2015 with the DVT model. For the earlier models (2010-2014) the only option was to buy a lowered seat (either a Ducati accessory or third party seat, eg. Sargent) or to have the seat foam remodelled and recovered.
I have a standard seat for sale - cheap - if you want to get a spare. Tiny scuff on left side. PM if interested.
Just for info, I had my Enduro 1200 seat rebuilt (for better comfort) ... 90 quid and it's transformed, SO much better.
Chap near York, Martin from 'Smartarrrs' though I think he's closing his business down as he's not very well unfortunately.
I have had a seat modified to make it slightly taller and easier on my knees, I now have another seat I have modified again for long distance Touring which will be covered within a month or so, therefore the seat I use now will be for sale soon. Probably 30mm higher than standard.
He did the seat I have on my ZRX12 and also did me a custom seat build when I had my Daytona. He is really good but as a consequence always really busy. I think his son will likely take over when Tony calls it a day.
The Ducati low seat is 25mm lower but due to the width of the seat it doesn't seem to equate to that down to the floor, tbh I've not really noticed much difference between the two although need more time with it to be sure, hoping it will make a bigger difference two up?
I had the lower seat fitted to mine, it was the difference between the balls of both feet being down and flat footed, instantly more confidence although not as comfortable. However - because of the different mould/tighter fit underneath, it *might have* rubbed a cable bare and caused an electrical fire that wrote off my bike. Would have another but would check for cable wear and tolerances FREQUENTLY!!
I’m also a short arse and struggle with the height of the standard seat I have a lower seat fitted now and makes a slight difference I have brought another seat to modify to reduce the width so can anyone recommend someone in the Surrey area
