Red (of course) 2013 ABS with panniers I am having my handover soon , to go over controls etc. Reading forums etc to find out about 2 up suspension - after run in and abba type stands Such fun!!!! Chris
Hi Chris So you bought one ! Good man. If you want to meet up give me a call. Was out last Sun and had a hoot. I think you will love the Mutley. As Bradders said ACF50 is your friend the MTS is prone to a bit of corrosion if you let, particularly the chain. I hope it will be dry for you on pickup day. Enjoy !!!
depending on how heavy pair of you are, you might want to fit the stiffer spring. Makes a huge difference when fully loaded. Also consider a rad guard, fender extender, and possibly cylinder head guard. Jope the weather is good on the 1st
Congrats on your choice of bike and welcome to the forum Add your bike details in your Profile ...and put yourself on the map: www.mts1200.info/map.htm ;-) Have a look here also Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/UK.MTS1200.Owners....remember the 'Like' link/button ;-)
Had the handover yesterday to go through controls and settings, running in process - bit confusing but now reading manual, so expect some questions soon , Newbie type questions , oil and whether I could use Castrol power 1 range instead of shell? Why don't 'we' get tools to take wheels off, surely its important - search ebay I suppose. thanks Chris countdown 8 days.....
Chris, you need a decent quality 55mm socket for the rear, probably 3/4" drive, and a decent breaker bar to go with it. The rear wheel nut is F tight. Strictly speaking you need a torque wrench, but personally I don't bother as I've got used to how tight to do it now  There are specialist sockets for doing front and rear nuts. Do not waste your money on one of the alloy ones, they are not strong enough and deform on the first use. No idea on the oil, mine has rarely needed topping up, I only needed to put oil in the bike twice in 20k miles, so its not a big deal. When it does I either use the correct shell if at home, or whatever is available when on a trip (knowing it will get changed when I get home anyway). Hope that helps.
ha I must be a wuss, not even used sport mode on mine, only touring and urban. Maybe I need to ride faster like you guys ;0)
'Sport' mode is where it's at. Top box solves pillion worries. Still get very good tank range 2 up in 'sport'. (Other modes are available). One up in 'sport' being vigorous will muller your mpg though, but it is fun!!!
