MTS1200 tank side panel protector

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Freak, May 18, 2012.

  1. I want some side protectors to stop wear on the paint from my legs Ducati list this part number 969A08710B for the carbon look sides at around £50!! Does anyone know of any alternatives clear/black/carbon cheaper than that? It's only a few square inches of plastic at the end of the day.

  2. I got a complete set of the 3M paint protection film for £60 from a local guy when I 1st brought my Multi..

Difficult to fit the complete set particulary the upper front fairing one but nearly 2 years on it all still looks fine & has protected the tank/side panels well.

  3. My bike also has the full Venturesheild kit fitted..........a couple of edges don't look too good now but that should be covered under the 5 year guarantee (reminder to self to phone 3M)

I fitted these as well recently.....the material was developed for knee 'grip pads' for sportsbikes originally (similar to StompGrips) so hard wearing.

    I'll post photos later

  4. Great thanks

  5. Andy, where did you get your techspec pads from, speedycom.co.uk or from Techspec in the USA?

    Thanks,
    David

  6. Yes speedycom.co.uk David

    Part # 62-1502-HF
TechSpec for Multistrada 10-11 in High Fusion - just under £40 inc p&p......very happy with them. I WILL take a decent close-up photo some time, meantime...

  7. Interesting... I tried to place an order with Speedycom, but it failed at the payment stage...twice. Weird. I emailed, but haven't heard anything, and on Trustpilot they get really bad reviews.... of course you have to do your own research, but as a quick test....

  8. Now you mention it I also had a problem ordering online............ordered by phone, they were helpful and the order arrived within 48 hours, my one and only experience with them was good :D

  9. I use them as well, bought them from the manufacturers who list on E Bay, took under a week to arrive and saved over a tenner.

  10. Knee grips for the Multistrada?

I'm sure the range is large bit I'm after something that offers good grip but doesn't cock up the look of my PP's tank/side panels. Something nearly clear would be good...

    Suggestions? Pics?

  11. The TrackPro grips you mention in your email look very similar to StompGrips which I had on my SV1000....excellent, recommended. Personally I like to go for bike model specific grips i.e. shaped to fit the contours of a specific bike tank/side panels. DIY/self cut is ok but hard to get a pro looking job done, no chamfered edges etc. Last time I asked pads for the MTS1200 were on their 'to do' list but still can't see on their website, email this guy and ask ;-) [email protected]

So, I've got TechSpec grips on the Mutley at the moment - again a really nice quality product but I don't think they do clear.

  12. @Longwayhome - Robin, you were asking about tank side panel protectors / knee pads elsewhere ;-)

My recommendation is still the Techspec protectors - more than two years old, look like new and remain firmly fixed i.e. no dodgy edges.

UK supplier is Speedycom Performance Ltd - speak to Ian, very helpful great service (bought a number of parts from them now MWR Air Filter, Pazzo Levers, Tank Pads.......)
