Hi everyone, I've got my first euro event booked this August at Mugello. I have been told it is a drive by 105dB. I'am currently rocking a Panigale V4s with a full akra system, I have asked the event organisers if previous clients have encountered any issues with this but they came back with nothing useful. Has anyone had any issues at Mugello recently on one one of these bikes rocking this system. Don't want to get out there and find they throw their spaghetti and meatballs out of the pram and kick me off the track. Cheers.
I haven't got a Panigale, so cannot help you there. They also do a stationary test at 6-8000 rpm when you leave the track, you can check that before you go to Italy.
Hmm, I’d seek confirmation. Does the Akrapovic system come with baffles? If so, take them. I’m running a V4S with unbaffled termignoni uscite system and it would definitely fail a 105db fly by…
Yea the system comes with the tiniest baffles that don't do very much... last time it got tested at static with them in it registered at 108dB.
Noise testing at Mugello..... Last year and previous years the lovely pit ladies randomly choose riders as they finish the session. As they don't speak anything I understand, there is some vague hand waving, a bit of revving, something written down and a nice smile sees you on your way. I think they have to collect some data to prove to the local authorities they care about noise. I have never seen nor heard of anyone ever being warned about noise. I run an ex-BSB 70mm system on my 1199, no baffles and it's loud.
My memory is telling me, someone posted on here last year about track days at Mugello which stated they are very strict on noise. I’ve also seen someone post a picture of after market db killers recently. The forum search function might help if you use a few key words. Andy
Mugello have a testing station at the start of the pit lane. Riders get pulled over at random as they come off track. My 2018 V4 with full akra race system was pulled and tested this afternoon and I got a thumbs up from the tester. No baffles. I’m pretty sure they’re just paying lip service to the rules (as is the Italian way).
This has been my experience as well. They pull you over, say something you cannot understand, you rev the bike, they write something down, then off you go, back to the garage. In four visits I have never heard of anyone failing. This is Italy after all. Unlike frickin Brands last week where I failed by 1.8 dBs last week and now have these shoved up my tail pipes.
Without baffles it’s loud. Over 105db. With baffles, not sure… Obviously less and probably dips under 105 but I wouldn’t put my house on it…
I know this thread is a little old but for what is is worth I regularly go to Mugello. (We stay there for a few months close to the circuit) My old 22 RSV4 ran a full system no baffle and that was only randomly checked. That was nearly 105 static but at some silly RPM, sure it was 8k. But they just waved me on. The Panigale has been fine. I've been there and some bikes are seriously loud and it is rare you get someone booted off. If you have a baffle take them with you, run without and if you get pulled put them in and that will usually satisfy them. Mugello is pretty relaxed, and it's not like here where noise can shut down a track. Mugello Circuit is heavily integrated into the community and local area...locals accept it for what it is and bikes are just part of Italy culture.
