Multi paint (Pikes Peak paint / decal schemes)

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Richard 1200, Mar 9, 2014.

  1. Anybody had their Multistrada 1200 repainted along the lines of a Pikes Peak, I love my bike but would be risking a divorce to change.
What a great weekend of weather. My bike had its first outing since October on Saturday and Sunday, perfect riding temperatures.

  2. See Johns thread, hes had his done in senna grey.

Im getting mine done in black as per my design, ill be starting a thread about the strip down next week and show the design concepts so we can see how the finished article ends up. Its also good just in case anybody in the future wonders why Ive changed the colour from white, at least if i keep an online diary about it then it will show there was nothing to hide :)

  3. DMC Moto in Preston do a sticker kit that they fit, I think it's about £150 all in. They look very good and the up side is it's not permanent so if you get board you can change it.

  4. P&H have a bike in right now that's new and been done in PP colours, might be worth a call to see who did it if you're local to them. It looks very good in the flesh.

  5. Count, they use two places:
One off designs in dartford, and Altamura in camberley.

Mine was done by one off designs. It's only a small company but excellent job, well pleased. Infact He has a further two sets of panels to paint for me for other bikes

  6. I think painting is fine, it's your bike after all but I'd also look at a wrap as it can be easily removed to revert the bike to standard and protects the underlying paint at the same time. Boss Dog in Dorking are excellent.

  7. You could probably get a custom wrap printed and made up like Count says, dirt cheap in comparison to a pain job, with the added benefit of it protecting your underlying paint from scratches and fading too.
Would probably get a pro to install it on the tank, can't manage a phone screen protector without some air bubbles or dust personally and it looks pretty complicated:

  8. All personal opinions of course but I much prefer the original 2011 PP to the later design. New one too sportsbike like for me.

  9. I've previously had complex side panels wrapped and a professional does a better job and there is a skill to it that needs more than a hairdryer and a Stanley knife. Boss Dog did mine with panels in situ on another bike and the results looked good. The PP scheme (new style) would need a wrap and then another strip matching the red applied or leaving a gap on a white wrap, very hard to do yourself.
