V4 Multi V4s Spoked Wheels Where To Put Chain?

  1. Hi,

I'm in the process of purchasing a multi v4s with spoked wheels and wondering about which chain/lock to buy for some extra security. On my previous bike it was easy with alloy wheels, but the spokes on the multi don't leave very large holes.

Does anyone else with spoked wheels have any examples of what they do?

    Cheers :)

  2. Thanks Simon, that looks like a good idea. I'll check them out.

  3. That's a Roadlok, a member on here sells them and provides great service.

    @Billy Big Roy

I have one I bought from him fitted to my 1260 Mutley. Eminently portable as the main part is attached to the caliper, just the pin to carry. Additionally there's virtually no movement or catastrophic damage if you forget that it's locked as the bike just refuses to move rather than the wheel turning a part rotation before a lock crashes into your mudguard, caliper or forks.

  4. Perfect, thanks. Quick question, how heavy are they? Or not noticeable?

  5. The body is alloy with only the lock barrel itself being steel. The caliper bolts are longer than OE so maybe marginally heavier. Of course it does add a little to unsprung weight but it's insignificant TBH. The pin is hardened steel but that isn't in the lock body when you're riding.

You'd think that the alloy body would make the lock insecure but if you think about it it can be sawn off but the lock pin itself will still be though the disk and acting like a conventional disk lock. Of course going to town on the locking mechanism with the right tools would defeat it but it's well designed and was previously Thatcham approved (think that might have lapsed due to not being renewed though, costs quite a bit annually I believe). I have confidence in mine, i use it when on tour in combination with an alarm and tracker. I sleep OK at night.

  7. I NEED those!

And, yep that’s a Roadlok, I have one on mine and it’s brilliant.

  8. Same here
I have a roadlok fitted, had it on my previous Multi too
    Great convenient piece of kit

  9. I checked this out after Simon's earlier post. The V4 and V2 use the same rear wheel spindle (part no.8190891AA) so there's a very strong likelihood the Pragmasis pin should fit. Measured mine (with alloy wheels not spoked) and it seems to. Going to order one from Pragmasis as soon as they have the Super Pin for the Panigale 899 back in stock). If you want something small and neat (like the Roadlok) then this isn't your best bet, through!

  10. Mate of mine had a disc lock on and parked his Bike at Bishops Gate. The thieves used an angle grinder to cut the disc each side of it and rolled it away.
He has a Monimoto and tracked it to Bethnal Green and got it back.
If they want your bike, they are going to take it.
