had a hard life or do they all fall to bits quickly.. ducati multistrada 2004--spares or repair | eBay
Yup - that is without doubt one of the nastiest looking bikes ever (the next post after mine will be "oi - ive got one of those!!) Forgetting about the actual look of the thing I think that represents everything that is wrong with ducati's - something ive been banging on about for ages. That type of tarnishing ive got on a couple of areas of my engine casing. I think ive had about 20% of my hyper powder coated to stop that and 90% of the fixings replaced with stainless. When I got mine it had only done 5k and is an 11 plate. I was in Riders a few months back getting mine MOT'd and was outside in the car park waiting for it to be completed and was looking at a brand new monster 1200, when say brand new I think it was a demo with less that 1k on the clock and already the fixing were starting to go chalky. If id paid 10k or whatever it was id be pissed. I know Ducati are in it for the money like anyone else but for the sake of and extra 100quid for stainless fixings and a better quality of coating is it really worth it (pissing people off)?
Yeah - which is nice. But it demonstrates what ive been going on about - ironically while I was in riders the sales blokey knew I was on a hyper and tried to flog me a new one - when I mentioned the quality of the coatings and fixings he replied with a "well mate - that's the way it is...." - yeah and im going to hand over 13k for a hyper sp for it to start rusting instantly....ive seen quite a lot of ropey ducati's in my travels so I knew what I was getting into when I got mine - it was just a case of trying to find a good one and make sure I look after it...hence the powder coating and fixings plus im lucky to have a garage - if I didn't have a garage im not sure id own one - or any bike for that matter as years ago when I lived in a bedsit my gsxr essentially over the years got eaten alive by the elements...
That's my old multi. That's what a damp metal shed does to a Ducati people. I've invested in a vacuum bag for my ss. It means that I won't be able to use it for 5 months of the year but hopefully it will stay looking better than that.
Hey - what possessed you to buy something that looked like that. That looks like the bike version of the Fiat Multipla - heh - Italian as well!
It didn't have a hard life. Mechanically it had everything that it needed and still ran great when I sold it a year a go. I know that people will take the piss but that bike broke my heart.
You can't see it when you're on it. Fantastic handling, grunty engine, wide bars and comfortable riding position. Not for people who are hung up on how a bike looks.
Yep - you can say that again! Looks like its got the same motor as my hyper....although I much prefer the look of it....my hyper that is...
I think they are nice....if I was near there I would bid him on it, id love that as a project and use it when done.
also iv a brick built garage and in winter the condensation on my bike is bad. so thinking of fitting more ventilation for the winter.
The biggest problem with it/the reason that I got rid of it is because the tank has expanded so much that it's pushed all the body panels out if line. Also if you took it off, I doubt that you'd get it back on again.
the bend in the fairing around the headlights. don't get it, looks nasty. i recon the fugly will eventually increase in value.
It's been voted the most beautiful bike in The WORLD !!! In countless polls ??? Each to there own I guess. I wish I still my 1994 916 Strada ! 1 of the first in the country !!!
