  1. I'm sure this is somewhere out there but I may be using the wrong search words. Nor can I find it in the manual.

This is a second hand bike and because of this, I'm not sure what is normal or not. I'm guessing the back has been raised as when on the side stand, it leans over quite far !!! This is on top of the front sticking through the t-clamps by 30 mm. I would also like the seat a bit lower.

What does this rod do ? Shock.JPG

There is little room to get any spanners in and the nuts are every tight and looks like it is the shortest it can be. Is this used to raise or lower the seat? If so, longer or shorter to lower the seat.

  2. It's a controversial subject so can just tell you that shortening the rod will lower the seat, obviously undo lock nuts first, one is a left-hand thread (notched nut) making adjustment on the hex at centre of rod possible.

  3. After bit more reading I have found some info. Currently the rod is at its shortest. The forks are 20 mm through the Tclamp. The seat is at 840mm from the ground. The manual says the seat should be 820mm so something is wrong. Did the different models have different seat heights ? Is there anything else the previous owner could have done ?

Lastly, there are 4 x 25 mm rubber cushions supporting the tank. Is this used for lowering the seat or just taking up the space between frame and tank?

  4. If you are trying to sort the lean of the bike out when on side stand, then you might be looking in the wrong area.

Pre 2005 the multi's did have quite a lean on them when on the sidestand. The two most common fixes were to weld a blob on the foot, about 3/4 of an inch deep, tidy up with a grinder then paint. You can also get a sidestand off a 2005 onwards model which seems a bit longer. It's worth checking the existing bolts are tight to check the sidestand is not loose so further out

The front forks factory setting should fitted with 271mm ± 0.5mm above the top of the bottom yoke.
