1200 Multistrada 1200 Buying Advice.

  1. I've searched the forum so know a few of the pitfalls, but still fancy a Multi. Being a shortarse I'd like a lower seat, however as I understand it some models have a better/lower seat choice than others. I'm not looking to buy new, and don't really want to spend more than about £10k. So do any of you fellow shortarse multi owners have advise on the best year/model to go for. I've sat on a new stock bike and the seat is ok, just a bit tall. I'd rather have a firmer footing just in case!

  2. 2013 onwards nicer at low revs and more economical and the lights are amazing

  3. im 5,7 and manage with stock seat

  4. I can sit on a stock seat, but just need to get a decent amount of foot on the floor to paddle it around. I'm 5'6" and it's a balls of the feet job for me. A 2013 bike isn't going to be less than £10k though? I don't need luggage as I have some, and a sat nav as well. I just want a decent bike that won't blow up, dump its fork oil, have electrical failure etc etc! Maybe I should save my money and stick with my old 'Fant ;)

  5. Your height isn't that important as I'm 5ft 8ins but my inside leg is 29ins so I struggle a bit on my Multi and I don't think a lower seat would help that much, had a go on my mates 1050 Tiger much lower to the ground.

  6. get new abs on pcp 3250 down and 135 a month save the rest

  7. My inside leg is 29" as well so I feel your pain! I don't want a pcp deal, why pay monthly if I have the money. It's earning me bugger all in interest so why pay interest to someone else when it's sitting there? S/H means someone else has take the main depreciation hit as well. I just want to make sure that the year and model I get can be fitted with a shorter seat height. Either that, or does the stock seat have room to get the foam cut down? I have a guy I use who's very good, but if the base is too wide there's not much he can do as it'll still spread your thighs?

  8. Lower seats did not make any difference for me, you can lower the suspension a little

  10. Get a 2nd hand and enjoy the fact not much warranty left , I admire your bravery

  11. I tried the lower seat on my Mutley, really uncomfortable! Went back to stock, much better and I have a 29 inch inside leg, not a problem for me, Drdaveboy is a lot shorter than me and he his no problems! Must be the high heels he wears!

  12. They are now doing free panniers as well in that pcp deal , wish they'd done that 2 months ago I wonder if ducati would mind reimbursing the money I paid for panniers towards anew termi system

  13. Have you had it lowered? I've fancied one but although I have a 29" inside leg I've struggled to sit on one.

  14. Nope. Its all in the planning...and just DONT STOP!

  15. 5" 10" with 32" inside leg and can't get my feet flat on the ground with the standard seat (Mark 1bike). Just about manage it with my low seat on and am much more confident when "paddling" the bike around. I find the low seat pretty comfy-several Irish/European trips with no backside issues! :upyeah:

  16. I'm going to book a test ride at my local dealer, they did have a 2010 'S' for sale with panniers. I'm not worried about hard boxes, as they'd sit on the shelf most of the time and I'm happy to use my Oxford luggage. I've got hard boxes for my Elefant, sitting on a shelf... :)

  17. Seriously, they are worth a crack and are not that heavy when lugging around. On the go even less so

  18. I can't get my feet flat on the ground but can still peddle it back and forwards if needed. When i test rode the bike it was one of the points i made to the salesman but he said as long as you can touch the floor with both balls of the feet you will get used to it.

And I have and don't even think about it now.

  19. Both balls?! ;)

I'm tiptoes one side, other on the peg. Yet manage fine. Its getting on and off thats the issue!

  20. Yep i have big balls. :)

Can't get both feet flat down though.
