I just know there's going to be a really obvious answer, but here goes; what are these clips for on the under side of the rear sub-frame? I got my 2010 S Touring model on Saturday and rode about 100 miles on A roads home. What a ride! I loved it!! I was frozen stiff but didn't want it to end.
I believe that they are the world's worst attempt at giving the bike some bungy cord (Occy strap in Oz) clips. I think that they decided to put them under the sidecovers so they don't spoil the lines of the bike and lets the metal hooks of the bungy cords to sit against the matt plastic rather than the painted sidecover. Having said that, I would never use them as they seem very insecure.
