Multistrada 1200 Tyre Size

  1. In an effort to reduce the seat height further, I was wondering about fitting a 190/50 rear instead of the standard 190/55. Has anyone done this, or could such a change invalidate insurance?

  2. Saving yourself a smidge over 1/2”. I inadvertently fitted a 50 profile tyre and as a result the speedo under read which meant I was always going slower than the traffic flow. IMO, so long as you change aspect ration and diameter to retain the same (or very nearly the same) rolling circumference, you’ll be fine. As there is no alternative in your case, again IMO, the insurance assessor would have to conclude the smaller aspect ratio tyre was a direct causal factor in any incident to deny a claim. The lowering kits offered with a couple of current models only change the spring rate so the bike sits lower. You could investigate that as a route. Andy

  3. Thank you Andy, very helpful.
