Could someone please help me lower the beams on my Mts? I turn the screws counterclockwise like the manual says but nothing happens. The low beam points above the bike and the high beam to stars. Are the forks too highly adjusted? Is that the problem? Any shared experience is valuable to me right now.
had the same problem.. Found I had to turn the adjusters several turns before anything started to move. it did adjust in the end..
Mine was the same as it would appear some dealers do not check when doing the PDI. As dukes22 has said, several turns are required to adjust.
I read a while ago on the multistrada.net site that the manual was incorrect. This may help: My headlights came from the factory WAY too high. Best low beams ever, but I was consistently getting flashed from other drivers at night. The downloaded service manual switched the up/down and left/right adjustments. The two that are close together in the middle adjust the left / right, NOT up and down.
Really?...... Looking at the positioning of the adjusters I would imagine the owners handbook to be correct (1) to adjust height and (2) alter alignment left or right. No wonder, because our server is banned from those sites and I cant read a thing so on the # 2 ( the ones close together ) I'll turn counter clockwise to bring them down? Then apply the left/ right setting on the no.1? Were you able to fix the problem immediately?
Mine must have been set at the PDI, I've never touched them......you have it the wrong way round: (1) Clockwise for down (2) to move the beam to the left or right .....do it at night as per the 'how to' link above, i.e. lights pointing at a garage door or wall and you'll be able to see exactly what turning whatever 'knob' is doing ;-)
Andy, The early manual was incorrect. Glad they have it right now or do I mean up:biggrin: NOTE - This diagram is wrong - use the one above!
Sussed now that the image I posted is from the Owners 'Handbook'........so even more weird that they could get that right but not the workshop manual! Checked the later HTML workshop manual and they have corrected the text
I adjusted my headlights even in the morning they came down quickly after like 30 clockwise turns I used the official manual the thick red book and it worked. thanks to all that replied to me I am so grateful to everyone. I'm going to need more help though in many things. Suspension settings and chain adjustment are th next questions I'd have.
