1200 Multistrada 1200s Touring 2013 Stalling Issue

  1. Hi all.
I have the above and have taken the Cat off to clean it up. Had a problem where the exhaust stud sheared but I got that fixed. Then went to decat it but it was sooo loud I ended up putting the nice clean cat back on and disconnecting the exhaust flap. The bike starts fine but, whenever i come to a standstill, and touch the throttle, the engine stalls. You have to rev it carefully once re-started and slip the clutch to prevent this. Not too much of a problem when going straight but could be an issue when turning with no power! Ducati Nottingham took the head off and left me to have the stud removed and Heli coiled so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Once running, she is fine. Has anyone heard of this issue before? If so, any idea of a fix?

  2. I had the same symptoms. Ticked over fine but hit the throttle and it cut out.
I did have engine warning light and mine was caused by horizontal MAP sensor.
Got the code cleared and it's good now and just ridden down to roses in Spain from coquells.

  3. Thanks for that. It may be the map sensor. I haven’t got an engine warning though?

  4. The horizontal map sensor went on mine and got an engine management light so if you’ve not had that come up, not sure that’s your problem. (Bike ran rich and could hear a backfire on tick over) Presume you have plugged in an exhaust flap eliminator and not just unplugged it? Never did it with mine but understand you have to cheat the ecu into thinking it’s still attached?

  5. Have you tried a spring on the exhaust flap cable? That fools the ECU in to thinking it's still there.

  6. I haven’t fitted the eliminator as it wasn’t immediately obvious where it is. I’ll try that though. Thanks for that.

  7. I have the eliminator box but haven’t fitted it yet. I’m sure that’s the issue now you mention it. Thanks a lot

  8. Found the plug for the servo under the side panel. Plugged in the eliminator and went out for a ride. A little better but not fixed:(

  9. So you say you removed the exhaust system (when the stud snapped off) did you remember to connect back up the Lambda sensors, although would expect that to throw up an EM fault if you forgot?

Presume everything was fine before you removed the exhaust?

  10. Everything was connected back up as was. Do you think it could need the memory of the lack of the exhaust valve clearing? Ducati Nottm mentioned the fact that it was an error in the system but there are no engine management lights on at the moment.
