1260 Multistrada 1260 Hazard Lights And Dash Problem.

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Gustavo Vitolo, Dec 30, 2018.

  1. Dear all, I hope you are enjoying of a good Christmas and New Year holiday time.

I went out on my 5 months old Ducati Multistrada 1260s and in the middle of the ride the hazard lights started flashing and the dash locked (menu button, high beam, indicators, etc, not working).
I stopped and after a few seconds the hazard lights switched themselves off and the dash started working. The problem persisted during my ride back home and some times it stopped when I was stopping and some times it persisted.

    Any thoughts?

  2. My thoughts? Go and visit your dealer asap. It's probably a small issue but if it led to the engine cutting out then it could be dangerous. You are under warranty so it will only cost you time.

  3. Don’t know if it’s relevant but there was a call for rear indicator wiring rerouting. Don’t know what that would affect and maybe a dash software update

  4. Thank you for you reply. That was my initial thought but I wanted to ask here as well. Going to MotoRapido the 5th Jan but taking it to my local mechanic tomorrow for him to give it a diagnostic.

  5. Thank you for the advice. I checked on the Ducati recall campaigns website and my bikes VIN number doesn't show a recall. Will do a diagnostic tomorrow and hopefully MotoRapido will sort it out next week.

  6. The 1260 Multistrada left hand switch gear wiring plugs into the switch gear housing. Sounds like your plug has become detached. Andy

  7. Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for your message and yes, it seems that is the problem. I took the bike to my local mechanic (Ducati Bikes in Wandsworth) and we found that when moving one of the wires connected to the switch gear housing (controls housing), the lights on the buttons were flickering. I pushed the wire in and the problem was resolved.

I am taking the bike to Moto Rapido this weekend and they will give it a better check and a final fix.

  8. Very interesting! My 1260s has just developed this exact same issue! Could you let me know how you fixed it?

    Thanks. Trev

  9. Sounds like it was a connector on the left hand switch gear.

  10. Thanks John, yeah I read the thread again and saw that. It’s going in on Tuesday 3rd Jan for its Desmo service, so I’ll get them to look at it..
