Well visor-down is making out they have done a first ride report on the new upcoming 950 multi. I personally doubt they have but I'm sharing it with you guys&gals. Ducati Multistrada 950 first ride review | Visordown ps: Admin can we have a 950 prefix please
Read it , thanks for posting.... Will stick with the 160bhp and the expensive insurance for now I think.
Thanks for this. I am Looking forwards to having a ride on one to see if it is worth changing my Tiger 800.
If it's anything like the difference between my mates Triumph Explorer and my S GT you better get your check book out. ;-)
This bike looks like an alternative to the Tiger 800 and BMW 800 higher end models. 19 inch wheel and you can add spoke wheels too.
Always loved the engine in the Hyperstrada so thought a Multi with the same engine would be brilliant. However, in the Hyperstrada it's pushing around a lot less weight than it would in the new 950. Hope its not taken too much edge off the delivery. When it comes to a test ride I've a funny feeling I'm going to feel a bit disappointed (as I was with the early DVT it must be said) by a lack of poke.
I think it would of pushed ducati to a larger crowd & got the dealerships buzzing with new buyers. Possibly making those same buyers think about going for the big boy toy on a further purchase. Lowering the price would entice more people frankly.
I thought that this was the whole point of the Scrambler? Maybe it's a stepping stone between Scrambler and their 1200+cc bikes in general?
Just finished reading it and my thoughts are... Just pay the extra and put the proper bike in urban mode if you don't feel like being 'intimidated' by 160BHP, which the 1200 doesn't even get anyway.
So I suppose realistically at 11 grand, add the bits and pieces and you are into 12.5 grand already. Over the first year you will drop probably 1.5 in depreciation ? then another 1K the next year ? ( just guessing of course ) To me it is probably 1K overpriced from new. I do like the look of it. But as a replacement for the Hyperstrada slot I don't think it will work as intended. I haven't ridden the 1200 Multi so not in a position to say whether the 950 will be a real disappointment. But I'm sure after the 1200 there is no going back
If the cost here was $15k usd, the 950 would be significantly cheaper than 1200 ($20k) and compete with an optioned tiger 800 at $14500. Scrambler comes in @ $10k.
I must admit it is the first bike I have been tempted to buy new. In reality I will probably have a test ride and wait for 12 months to see how it performs and buy a second hand one when they come up. I am pleased with the Tiger, but fancy a change.....and its the odd one out in the garage
I have to agree with you there. My DVT is the most unintimidating 160hp I've ever experienced. My MT-10 makes the same power (make a bit more) but you put it into B mode and it's VERY intimidating. I generally ride my DVT in sport mode because anything else seems a little lacklustre.
