Since picking up my Multistrada 1260 18 months ago the bike has suffered quite badly with vibration in the mirrors at various speeds/gears. Looking to add Evotech Performance Ducati Multistrada 1260 Bar End Weights to try to solve the issue. Has anyone else had the same problem and, if so, what solution did they use to solve the problem (if they did solve it)?
It's a big V twin, there will be vibes. I don't find mine that bad TBH. have had the Evotech weights fitted since the bike was new. More for comfort than mirror vibes though they probably amount to the same thing.
Never had an issue with mirrors vibrating as I had the Evotech weights fitted and then replaced those with Bark Busters which are just as heavy and they damped out any bar vibrations. Still got the set of Bark Busters for the 1260 if anyone is interested.
I have the evotech bar weights, the mirrors still vibrate and not clear at all till u get to about 65mph then they suddenly become clear.it’s annoying.
If the vibs suddenly worsen it could be because the mirror surface has delaminated from the backing. Easy way to tell is if one mirror is way worse than the other, i guess. Had this happen on my ENDURO left mirror, at the time it was still under warranty and dealer took care of it.
This has never been a problem for me on the MTS 1260 I currently have, nor indeed on any of the previous iterations. With the relatively short-lived use of the mirrors for overtaking, checking behind to check on riding buddies when 'in convoy' and the regular rearward glance usually required for positional sense, etc, the odd vibration really shouldn't be that much of an issue! That said, if yours is considerable and very frequent, then perhaps you do have rather more of a problem......
TBH - its a bit of a pain. I wouldn't mind/in fact expect some vibration but need to dull it down somewhat.
I had the same problem on my 1260s, in the end I replaced the OEM mirrors with Rizoma, problem solved. No vibes at all and rear-view image is crisp, albeit mirror size is slightly smaller.
Not assuming you don't already know this, but there is an adjustment screw behind a flap, under the mirror. You wouldn't be the 1st to be unaware of it. I'd check to see if they need tightening up. A bit left field, but if the vibration continued, what would be the effect of adding weight to the inside via the flap? Like sand or similar?
Handlebar mounted BBQ, what will Ducati think of next? And don't think I haven't noticed the built in twin satellite receivers in your mirrors either, that's some bike you've got there.
The mirrors vibrate on my 1260, as they did on my 1200DVT, bizarrely the left vibrates more than the right, I've now had the RH mirror replaced twice due to this problem, each time with no noticeable improvement. Didn't know about the adjusting screw though, will take a look and see if adjusting it improves the issue, although in reality "what's behind you doesn't matter"
"Is that just a roof bar or is it a light bar on the blurry blob in my mirror, going to all that effort to catch up?" "They must have read my mind, it's a light bar! Didn't need to pull in behind and flash the head lights too....Just showing off now"
