Hey guys. I have a 2015 Mutley without Skyhook suspension, its the stock Kayaba (?) setup (which I actually preferred). Does anyone know the stock factory setting for the front fork pre-load adjusters at all please ? Mine is set to 2 rings showing, but I have no clue if that is stock or less or greater preload. All the other settings front and back I can find, but the owner handbook does not give a stock preload for the front fork. Every other bike I ever owned, defines stock preload by the number of rings showing on the adjuster. If anyone can tell me what theirs is, especially if its still stock - it'd be a big help (NON S though) Thanks
The rings don't mean anything. You want to set your preload so the suspension is compressed 1/3rd of it's total travel when sitting on the bike
I wanted to set the fork preload so the forks were at their lowest setting without dropping them through the yokes actually. It was only two turns on the compression to sort that I feel no negative affect on handling in doing that, nor did I by doing similar on the rear, (well a few clicks off full comp on the back) I do have a bike sitting maybe an inch lower than it was though, which with a Touratech seat raising the floor to crotch height by about 20mm, made the bike manageable for me again. I have just ridden several hundred miles on all types of road in Scotland and its much better. No headshaking (never did mind) no bottoming out, no wallowing. I dont treat roads as a racetrack, but don't hang about either. Gotta say, it was an overcoat warmer up there than back down home too. Predictable showers, but that wasn't a problem
