I've been looking at the website and I see the basic 1200 is listed at £12750 and the 1200S is £15550, a difference of £2800. Am I right in thinking that the difference between the two is the addition of a centre stand, heated grips, panniers and the skyhook suspension? Is there anything I have missed?
That is a big price differential given the extra equipment you get. I've seen the deal for the free panniers but it seems conditional on taking out the lease type finance with a balloon payment at the end of the term. But I know you could buy a bike on this plan and you then have 14 days to exercise a right to withdraw once you have signed the agreement and then pay the bike off. I did this when I bought my current R1200GSA when BMW were offering a £800 deposit contribution. I collected the bike then phoned up, withdrew from the agreement and paid it off. I still got to keep the £800 deposit contribution and it would be the same with the pannier deal. It seems this would be the way to go, just add the centre stand and heated grips. I don't think I would miss the skyhook system at all.
Bought the standard 2013 bike with added panniers, rack and heated grips in April. Substantial saving over the Skyhook. Just done 2200 miles through Alps/Dolomites and Black Forest with passenger and full luggage. A couple of tweaks to suspension on day 2 and never touched again. Simply superb standard suspension.

Panniers will come free with the ABS regardless on how you pay. You'll find most dealers will have no movement on the bike price, but you will get headroom if your after options. I got my ABS with free panniers, Tank Pad, Heated grips, 1st service and 1/2 price center stand. Was well chuffed with that.
