1200 DVT Multistrada Tank Bag Q

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by HootOwl, Aug 21, 2020.

  1. I could do with a Multi tank bag, but I just want a small one that would maybe hold a phone, passport, credit cards etc for overseas....anyone found anything that does NOT fit to the fuel cap with a locking ring ? If not I will stick with my comedy Oxford fanny pack that is almost large enough to park the bike in it :D

    Ta muchly :)

Although I can see the slight advantage of readily available stuff in a tank-bag, I'm in your camp about the inconveniences. I prefer having light storage capacity behind me. Consequently, I purchased this small back section which accommodate a small tail bag 99% of the time and double as the mount for a seldomly used back-rest. In fact, I can have both when the bag is mounted to and behind the back-rest.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. I've been thinking about the Enduro Handlebar bag, fits the standard Multi, and imo better than the standard Multi handlebar bag. I have the small Givi tanklock bag, tbh i don't use it, don't like it

  4. I have a small Held 5l expandable tank bag. Has a strap for under the headstock and a velcro pad to keep it from sliding about. Does for phone and other small items, also has a clear panel for paperwork etc.

  5. That looks OK, I am not sure it'd help me on the payages tho. That's where I struggle. I need something on the tank where I can unzip it in the queue and pluck out either a card or a note to get straight through and then drop it back in (if its a card) and ride through. I do my 'tidying up' on the other side where there is invariably a layby.

If I had to start reaching behind me, I am as likely to drop the bike on its side as keep it up :) I can only just paddle it as is, being shortish of leg ;)

  6. Tank is plastic, so that why most go with the tank ring.

  7. Tanklock tank bag is great
    Wunderlich handlebar bag is great
    Peage tag is great.
You can’t lose with any or all.

  8. What’s the issue with a tank ring?
Easy to take the bag off in seconds, everything right where you need it when you are on your...

Plenty of choice of really small bags as well

  9. And on a Multi you just put it ahead of the filler when fuelling.

  10. Because I have a steering damper mounted there ;)

  11. On a Multi?...

  12. Yup - on a Multi :)

  13. I can see how that might interfere...

  14. I have since found an under yoke mount so it could be moved...but its like 200 quid for the mount, which is probably what I already paid for this one...so it may or may not get changed over ;)

  15. The tank bag is very useful, and as decorative as the damper is you should find the Multi pretty stable once it’s set up correctly. I had a lot of issues with weaving and after much flailing I approached things a little more methodically and realised that I was running the rear shock preload too low and running the rear tyre pressure a bit low too. After getting the setup right it’s stable to 130+ and turns beautifully now... and I have somewhere to put my travel mints and Tena pads.

  16. Different

  17. HO,
WOW, that's a serious bit of kit you have 'mounted' there.
You want to be sure you change up and down the gearbox incredibly smoothly and don't brake too aggressively, otherwise you'll head-butt the 'item' staring at you from in front of the fuel filler cap.
    Just saying......:scream:

  18. Losing my nuts on it if I go over the bars is more of a worry to be honest lol :D

  19. I wouldn't have thought the tank cap allen bolts and anchor points were up to the stresses that can be inflicted by a Steering Damper?

Looks well suspect to me tbh! :astonished:

  20. The only time I could make the tank flex, was if I put the damper on its firmest setting which pretty much made the steering impossible. It wasn't rideable for sure.

It would flex at that point, but on what might be termed a 'normal' stiffness setting, it was no issue. Nothing untoward was happening.

Its gone now anyway and the damper mounted underneath the yoke :). I just got hold of a Ducati 5 litre tanklock bag to fit on the tank instead
