  1. Getting my new v4s with travel
And radar in a couple of weeks.
What are the must have mods ?
I’ve had a search but haven’t found anything

  2. Carbon. Lots of carbon.

  3. Zoot suit jacket with side vents 5 inches long.

    • Agree Agree x 1
  4. Proper road tyres and a better clutch lever. Some sort of crash protection.

    It doesn’t need much more.

  5. Garmin XT is a must. I’ve also fitted matching (red) colour side panels and ordered carbon from Conquest.

  6. tail tidy is defo #1

  7. That’s interesting about the zumo.
I take it the onboard phone app setup is no good then?

  8. Almost 10K miles on my V4S now and I ride in almost all weather. My extras are as follows

    Ducati riding lights
Evotech Oil cooler protector (haven't bothered with the side radiators)
Ducati Engine Guard Protector - gives more protection than the standard covers
Ducati hand guards - the ones with metal end plates and an extended part on the top.
Cable for optimate wired direct to the battery
    Side stand support plate
Red side panels at the front (its Ducati it should be red!)
Iconic high level sat nav mount
    Ducati Comfort seat (heated version)
Pyramid Plastic fender extenders for the front and back
R&G tail tidy - the original looks a mess
Ducabike levers from Conquest Racing - only because I have a dodgy right hand but they are good.

Apart from that list even in standard form it is a stunning bike. One last thing a credit card - it likes to drink a lot of petrol :)

Plus - I forgot that mine came with Road 5 tyres - by request, I hate the standard so called dual purpose tyres.

  9. In my opinion it’s a PITA, once it’s programmed and your up and running it’s OK, you cannot easily change it on the fly. I wanted to like it and gave it 4 maybe 5 months before I gave in and bought the XT.

  10. I got my Multistrada V4 in mid July this year, a V4S Travel and Radar in white. Here's my list of accessories I fitted day one:
    • Ducati top box, with mounting plate
    • Evotech oil cooler and radiator guards
    • Ducati touring handguards, still on back order :-(
    • Pyramid Plastic fender extenders, back and front
    • Iconic high level sat nav mount, for Garmin Zumo XT
    • Ducati touring tank bag with new (much taller) Givi Tanklock ring. This is a very different shape to the touring tank bag for the 1200/1260, much slimmer and taller which is needed as the bars get a lot closer to the tank on full lock. I already had the smaller "pocket" tank bag.
    • Ducabike rear brake master cylinder guard & rear wheel ABS sensor guard
    • Ducati fog lights
    • Cable for charger / headed jacked, directly wired to the battery
    • Spare keys without transponder
I already had a Scottoiler eSystem from a my old 1200 but ended up buying an xSystem as I couldn't be arsed to remove all the plastic to get the cable routed to the bars for the display.

I'm not great fan of top boxes except for touring but I've now purchased Givi 30 litre Trekker top case for general use - somewhere to carry a laptop (I used to be able to fit it in the old style of touring tank bag) plus a few tools and a compressor. The space under the seat on the Multi V4 is very limited and only holds an inadequate looking puncture repair kit.

I did consider installation engine bars and the "enduro" sump guard from new but decided against it. After considering the amount of plastic parts which might need replacing in the even of a topple over and hearing of possible damage to the side mount radiators, I've now fitted a set of Ducati engine bars.

I've heard rumours that Evotech may be working on a cylinder head guard which would be interest otherwise I might reconsider the Ducati sump guard.

I've also purchased a 36mm spanner to add to my "touring tool kit" if I think a chain adjustment might be necessary - it's a bit on the large and heavy side so might look for an alternative. I also brought a 36mm bi-hex socket for use at home.

I think I might be in the market for a new number plate sound as it's showing signs for damage from the exhaust :-(

  11. Hey all, newbie here.

collecting my v4s touring/radar/enduro pack on Monday.

This is my first grown-ups bike. Always had sports or nakeds in the past so I’m a bit unsure on what extras to get.

Here’s my wish list so far.

    - tank bag of some description, there’s a YouTuber (Ducati time) who has a vid in a decent and interchangeable one from sw something or other. I’ll probably get the waterproof one from them.
    - Tail-tidy, prefer evotech stuff to r&g nowadays so will wait until it’s back in stock with them.
    - Oil-cooler and rad guards, evotech again.

That’s it so far. Will eventually replace the silver front fairing with white or red and some of the Matt plastic on the nose with carbon to match the mudguard.

Not interested in a scottoiler, never needed one and even less so now I have a bike with a centre-stand.

Have c-tech charger with adapter from my last bike so no need to get one of them.

Don’t want a top-box, irrational I know but just don’t like the things.

Interested in why everyone goes for a dedicated sat-nav. The garmin xt looks great but seems expensive when phone mounts and apps are so good. Any feedback on that would be appreciated. I get that the Ducati connect/Sygic solution is unsatisfactory just not sure why you just wouldn’t mount your phone and use that?

    Anything else I should consider?

Also interested in getting a heated jacket but will search the forum for recommendations and cable management solutions.

    Thanks all.

  12. I prefer the larger format of the XT over my smaller phone, I also like Garmin software and system. I like iPhones and am completely Apple except Garmin cycle and campervan Satnavs.

I also like Keis heated gear, my previous waistcoat lasted about 12/13 years, my wife has her original. I mainly upgraded my vest as Keis had a good offer for blood bikers and I wanted the gloves.

  13. Clear clutch cover.
    Rim tape.
    Dark screen.
    Lots of anodised bolts.

    Bikes clean as a whistle.

  16. Nice, I didn’t know such a thing existed.
TBH, o-ring and x-ring chains have oil or lube sealed in the frictiony bits (technical term that) anyway so I’ve never understood why people oil the chain so much and personally think scottoilers are motorcycling snake oil. I only ever give a quick wipe down with a wd40 soaked rag/cloth when it’s a bit gummed up really. Queue the outrage. Never had an issue. I have used dry ptfe spray occasionally too.

Anyway, where did you get your chain from please and what is the difference between that and a regular o or x ring chain?

    Thanks

  17. Cue the outrage even

  18. Moto Louis , it’s great no oil at all . Agree with the less oil on a standard chain unless it’s off road … then drown it .. Ref KTM 250 exc-f
The dirt you see on the chain is brake dust nothing more , not oil and grit cutting paste lol

  19. HPE chains look good but do need a clean and some lube (not a lot) if you do bigger mileages.
Heated gear - have a look at Warm N Safe, excellent, not cheap, but very good and has a separate bar mounted controller so you don't boil yourself.
