Mutley returns

  1. So 4 weeks after taking the 1200S in for warranty work on the a new dash, left switchgear and forks shims, I got her back today. The dealer did not have the tools to complete the job as they had never done the fork shims before and had to wait for them to arrive to do the job.

I had 2 different loan bikes for the month, a Streetfighter 848 and. Harley Road King... Ain't I glad to get the Cat back today. Like having a brand new bike again and lovin it

  2. " Dealer did not have the tools" well that is a good one !

  3. Riders in Bristol had never had to strip down any of the Ohlins Forks before, so had not needed the tools. Ducati issued bulletin 844, but they do not supply the tools to do the job, so Riders had to send direct to Ohlins to get the tools in. I don't blame Riders in any way for this delay, I build Moutain Bikes and if I purchased every tool for doing all the forks, brakes etc, it would not be a viable thing to do on cost and storage. Ducati possibaly could supply specialist tools for these sort of jobs. Also Ohlins took near on 4 weeks to supply the tools when Riders ordered them.

The dealer has done well by me in keeping me up to date with progress every few days or so, telling me of their calls and emails trying to get the tools in quicker. They also provided me with a bike to ride whilst mine was sat in their workshop, a little Streetfighter 848. Had that for 2 weeks and then chopped that in for a Harley Road King because Mrs Gas did not like the pillion seat on the 848. Neither are my sort of bike, but it just made me more appriciative of the 1200s getting back on it yesterday.

Anyway, the sun is out again today, so a nice run out later and 4pm this morning I was waking up the neighbours as I left for work on the Mutley, oh dear

  4. I think that time on the Harley has scrambled your brain

  5. I know... I have problems sleeping, so just go to work what ever time I wake up, the joy of flexi time. But it's now 11-ish and I just finished work for the day and off out for a bit of play time on the bike now :upyeah:

Couple of hours riding, then home to build up a mountain bike for a friend.

That Harley has shaken me brains up a bit mind...

  6. I had a Hardly Ableson XR1200S while my dealer sorted my front forks and back brake and had to do a 430 mile round trip on it due to prior committments. I know your pain.

  7. I understand what you are saying, atleast the dealer looked after you, more than I got from VW dealer with my car
