Having owned my 1098 for just over two weeks now. But iv only cleaned it as I was waiting for the belts to be changed. It's certainly different, the midrange is immense. I love the noise but maybe earplugs are in order.
Hi Copester Welcome I have a 1098 had it since new, its been a great bike. Immense mid range and its still got more at the top. They are certainly different and very engaging IMHO If you have come off oriental IL4s it will sound loud for sure especially if its got aftermarket silenecers, that said the standard ones were not exactly quiet either. I love the sound but Yes I ride with plugs, be bloody deaf otherwise John
John you must be smitten to still have your 1098. I have had inline 4s, couple of gsxr thous and a blade which were different but the ducati is totally alien. its not happy in town but on the open road it came alive with... Booms from the termi's ear plugs it is! iv only really used them on track days and the odd motorway journey.
I'm guilty of hanging onto machinery me. I'm useless with selling gear and always get stuffed. So I try to consider what I really want both for now and in the future. Don't know if I'm just slow but I'm still finding lots out about the bike and how to the best from it, just little things but enough to keep me engaged with the experience. I love it, the low down pull then the awesome top end and the handling especially with new boots is unlike anything I've had. Your spot on about towns or cities, its an absolute pig to ride, but when the road opens up...............Oh my & that sound This is a great forum too John
