My GT1000 in action, somewhat overloaded!!!!

Discussion in 'Sport Classic' started by Toastmuncher, Mar 26, 2013.

  1. Had to commute the other day and the trusty dr650 is sick. My wifes Cally Stone and my duke were both tucked up and the sidecar outfit would have been a nightmare in bristol traffic, so dragged the Duke out, on the way home I passed a mate down by the severn bridge, hes an amateur photographer, he fired a few off and sent them to me via email, thought Id pop them up here, you can see the bike in action, its a little small for me, as you can see. I will say it was good to get out on it though, handling is sublime, fuel light came on at 97 miles though GGGGRRRR, took 9.5 l to fill up.
    Anyway..................

  2. A lovely bike - you do make it look a bit like a mini-moto though :upyeah:

  3. Beautiful bike. Pity they've discontinued them. Up that pre-load mate or off the pies :)

  4. It's a gorgeous bike - only 97 miles om that bigger tank??? I haven't worked out the SC range yet... I bet it's 70 max...

  5. Nice photos! :upyeah:

Fuel light came on at 97 miles, yet it only took 9.5 litres? The standard tank capacity is 15 litres so your fuel light is coming on with 5.5 litres left. I think they are supposed to illuminate with around 3 litres left, so you may want to check the sender unit.

Mind you, I'd rather the light come on with 5.5 litres left than with 0.5 litres left!

  6. So your mate just happened to have his camera ready to shoot as you past? Come on tell us the truth you told him you would pass didnt you?

Er just for reference Mr Toastmuncher - how tall are you?

It's just that the stance seems to be about the same...

  8. Im 6'4, 17 st 6, plus bike kit on top I am no lightweight, however, if you met me youd know its not down to pies. Its funny, when I ride my 1340 dyna, people ask if its a sportster. LOL

The light came on early as it was on the sidestand, last time it came on at 112 miles. 45-48mpg as an average in cold weather Im happy with, its just the capacity that winds me up.
And yes, he was on the roundabout as I passed, hes known locally, does some lovely stuff with his camera.

  9. Just a thought: Have you had the ECU mapped with the Fuel cans? If you haven't already done this, then you may get a slight improvement in mpg with a mapping of the ECU & TPS check/adjustment.

I agree, it would be nice if the tank held a few more litres. I gather some folk in the US are buying alloy tanks to avoid the ethanol in fuel/tank swelling issues they have over there, these tanks may have a slightly larger capacity? I shan't be spending over £1,000 on a new tank though....

  10. only a litre increase with those tanks. I have not done anything other than fit the cans, somebody metioned a fat duke chip? I have no idea what that is.

  11. I dont think it looks too small for you to be honest. Nice bike.

  12. Fat Duc O2 Manipulators are said to work by altering the oxygen sensor output voltage. This slight reduction in voltage forces the ECU to add additional fuel:

    PERFORMANCE BOULEVARD - O2 Manipulator

I have the Termignoni kit with modded airbox lid & Ducati Performance ECU. This means I don't need the Fat Duc, but I think quite a few Sport Classic owners in North America have tried it. Not sure who (if anyone?) sells the Fat Duc in the UK.

  13. been offered a stelvio so gt for sale now if anyone interested?

  14. Might be worth putting the GT in the Classified section on this forum site. More people may look in there than visit the Sport Classic section. The Stelvio is an interesting alternative to the BMW GS1200. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :upyeah:

  15. How much are you thinking of asking for?

  16. £4250 firm or Ill be keeping hold of her, just been to see a stelvio and having just sold the Harley, Im keen to buy it. Seller is giving up or he said hed take the GT against it.

  17. I had a pm via another forum from someone looking for a GT1000. Mine's not for sale but he has since contacted me to say he is aware of one for sale in Bristol. If this isn't your bike Toastmuncher, I'll be happy to forward your contact details if you want to send them to me by pm.

I have no association with the person who is looking. He want to buy, you want to sell. Might be a win-win?

  18. Id appreciate you passing me bits on, Im only 10 miles from Bristol. I cant remember advertising mine anywhere other than here but I fear woodworm are eating my brain so who knows.

  19. Details forwarded. You might want to edit your last post to prevent unwanted eyes gaining access to your numbers.

Good luck with the sale if the guy contacts you, it's down to him now.

    Cheers :upyeah:
