I'm confused,(not for the first time I might add...) There's a big write-up in this weeks MCN pages 50-53,about Ducati ST range. A number of times on pages 50/51 they refer to the 1996-2004 ST2 being AIR-COOLED. Now I know that my mind has undergone a bit of a chemical battering in the past,but.... I'm sure there's an expansion bottle behind the fairing of my ST2... And there's a radiator...or is it? So,(as the bikes down the yard 9 miles away, and I'm at home),I'd like someone to bottom this out... Is my ST2 air or water cooled? And if it's air cooled, where did that coolant go that I put in last week?
Lightning, if it's any consolation to you I must tell you about Bike Magazine's reviewer who after testing the new ST3 in 2003 wrote about the old fashioned Ducati air cooled engine. To make matters even worse he absolutely slated this wonderful sports touring model.I can honestly say that the ST3 at that time was probably one of the best tourers on the scene. My advice would be to give little credence to these inexperienced reviewers who write in the motorcycling comics.
And a Google search for MCN ST2 revealed this, from their own website.... I do wish they'd make their effing minds up,or their Journalists do just a little research.... [h=3]MCN overall verdict [/h]The forgotten Ducati family – sports touring motorcycles. . [h=3]Engine[/h]

[TH]MCN rating[/TH]

[TH]Owners' rating[/TH]

The Ducati ST2 relies on an old power plant derived from Ducati’s old 907 Paso. Like most Ducati motorcycles it’s a 90 degree V-twin. It’s liquid cooled and while not incredibly powerful is torquey with superb midrange. The Ducati ST4 is a newer bike with the more advanced and powerful 916cc engine from the iconic Ducati 916.
