Nice! Honda VFR front caliber? Is it a straight swap? Big improvement? Also wide rear wheel I assume? Did u have it offset for chain clearance? My dad has one which he says is being passed to me and he wants to do a few of these upgrades, so far we have installed a full Arrow 2-1 system, which saved a bit of weight but she is still a heavy girl!!
Hi Phil, Yes. its a Honda calliper & a straight swap but I'm not sure which model it comes from; I bought it new from a guy who sells them on eBay for £150. It made a notable difference; I'd recommend it. The rear wheel is standard (although I will change it over winter); it does however wear a 150 tyre which makes it look bigger & gives it a nice crown. You can fit up to a 5" rear wheel with 170 tyre without any offset. I had an arrow system but couldn't resist the shorty Preds. They are heavy but with attention to the suspenders & geometry they can get a wriggle on; they don't like going above 90mph but they are more about arriving in style! I have done so much with this bike; I could prattle on all day! Thanks for your interest.
Yeah, next on my list is a tail tidy, LED indicators and then some decent rubber. The suspension is okay for the way we ride it and likewise so is the power
I think u will struggle if u are looking for performance still, but they are comfy and fast for what they are, I would miss sports bike though
It's a great choice! It does run better with the fancy pipes as it's a bit restricted as standard but Arrow have started saying 'not for road use' on their pipes which is annoying. Otherwise enjoy!
They are quite basic out of the box but this list of possible modifications is endless. With a free flowing exhaust, air filter, air box baffle removed, TTP tune & lower gearing (+2 rear works best for me; it responds well to the 10mm shorter wheel base too) they can feel quite pokey. Another pic but a few mods have taken place since. :Watching:
Ours has the newer handlebars on it, would probably prefer ones like yours, I've heard about putting Scrambler shocks on to give some rear ride hieght, is yours stock? What tyres did u out on there? U mentioned the rear is wider? Do they still have inner tubes? Standard ones are bias ply and I think they limit feel a lot
Mine had the newer bar setup but I preferred the look of the earlier carb model clipons so I bought the top yolk & clipons; they bolt straight on but I had to sleeve the clipons to 1' so the switchgear would fit. Scrambler & Thruxton shocks are the same length. My shocks are standard length Hagon Nitro but the preload is high which increases the height. My tyres are Pirelli Sport Demon; still with inner tubes The rear is a 150/90. The front is a 110/80.
