Here's a thread for us to highlight facts or generally perceived as true that are simply not so. Could be about anything motorcycle related. No hearsay or personal opinions. Must be backed with an authoritative expert source. I'll start this off with this one: "Track tire are softer than street tires" Not so! https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxrUA526VEB_-7tlwJ46X8DH1x9w_dNx39?si=Hp-xoxLPoWps43bp A great quote by Mark Twain is: “It Ain’t What You Don’t Know That Gets You Into Trouble. It’s What You Know for Sure That Just Ain’t So.”
I sat through a you tube vid on 80's motorcycle culture today with a long section on the ACE Cafe. There were various stories of high jinks and derringdoo. As I cut my riding teeth in Essex in the 80's I was a little confused, although I have been to the ACE many times I confess I never went there in the 80's. So I checked on Wikipedia and was reminded that it closed down in 1969 and didn't open again until the Revival in 1997.
'bikes are ready from the factory' May not be untrue, but it's bad advice. We're all different shapes and sizes. You need to fit the bike to the rider.
