Mythical Beast

  1. To the list of the Unicorn, the Hippogriff and the Bugblatter Beast of Trall, add the Monster 620 as a beast of myth and conjecture. There are many tales told of fruity sound, small size and subterranean seat height but nowhere is the real thing to be found. Which is a shame as my wife, who is extremely short of leg, would really like a Monster and, if the tales are true, the added smallness of the 620 might let her have one.

So are the tales true? Can a six-year-old really get both feet on the ground? Are they that much smaller than the way-too-tall 698? Does anyone live close enough to Dorset that we might have a look one day?

    We're hoping.........

  2. Don't know about the 620 but my wife has an old school 600 with a lowering kit on and it's fine for her and she's 5'4" tall. Not good if you want to ride as I found out when I rode it home from Ipswich!

  3. You mean there was another low one in Ipswich?
I think I possibly own the lowest monsters of all time ... I am 5ft 1 ... It's not your height it's your inside leg that counts.
I know women shorter then me and their bikes are to tall for me because they have longer legs.
    My m600 is loooow !!!!

  4. Hi if you go to www.Ukmonster.co.uk there's a few for sale there or if not owners or ex owners who could answer your questions :)

  5. There was but that was 2 years ago! I bought it for the missus as an incentive to pass her test, but work and injuries have prevented that so far, fingers crossed she soon will. Until then it is tucked up adding no miles to the 2700 on the clock!

  6. Thanks guys. My wife is 5'0" and is short of leg too. We'd really like to add another Ducati to the stable, so far the only bike we've found that fits her is this year's Triumph Bonneville. I guess it'll be a case of a lot of travelling to look at (sit on) try out.

  7. Well I'm 5'2" and also had problems finding a bike that would fit, i think i must be one of few that have had to have an rs125 lowered! Anyway after getting a gsxr 6 and some months later decided that it really wasnt for me it was to wide at the tank and heavy so we went and had a look at a 749 as after reading many reviews the seat height sounded perfect....oh no it wasnt!! Lucky for me there was a 748 behind it in the showroom and it was fine hence then looking for one! I fit my 748 just Fine we dropped the preload and adjusted the sag on the rear as far as we could possibly go and because of my weight it's not making any difference to the handling! Also I have invested in some Daytona lady star boots which give me a couple of inches in height best investment ever!

  8. Plus 1 on ladystars!!!

  9. I thought the 695 was supposed to have the lowest seat height of the old-school Monsters. I've got a 696 with standard seat - I'm 5'2 1/2 with 28" inside leg and it's fine.

  10. Oh I also forgot last time the measured my height a few weeks ago at hospital id lost nearly an inch ....... sadly not from the right places !! Im now a midget :(

  11. We're still looking and there's some nice kit for sale though quite which models start off the lowest is still a mystery. My wife's got a 25 inch inside leg and insteps that Ladystars just don't fit so all the lowering tricks will be needed. Can you tell me what things you have found helpful? Shocks, seats, links, diet of magic beans.....

  12. I got a 620ie s for sale getting it moted next week

  13. Ok I'm 5ft and 1/2 now so I've been told :(
    26 inside leg.
The only way your get the bike as low as mine and it will need to be is have a shock shortened as well as all the other stuff like seat shave and forks through yolks.
Michelin tyres also have a lower profile.
Mct in Stowmarket did mine .
Short shock built and bike set up.
    Makes the world of difference.

I've got every trick on mine!
    Where are you based?
