Hi all, I have had a brief look through the other threads concerning this Garmin unit, however: As an electrical cluckwit I have just ripped (?) this puppy from my GSA before waving goodbye to it sometime(? Riders? ) this week and taking delivery of a new Multistrada Skyhook. I need to nail this puppy onto the new bike pretty briskly and would like to know if possible: 1. What cradle/ally bar type fitment do you chaps recommend that will be compatible with this? Where is best to obtain this goody? Any recommendations 2. Will the new machine have the correct power plug thingy to connect this to? If no, can anyone recommend a plan please? 3. Is there anything I should know? Is there trouble on the horizon? There are two plugs, only the one I am holding was connected. Many thanks in anticipation. cheers Ian
Navihalter bracket will do the job to hold it in place nicely, it should have the standard Garmin screw layout, if you can measure the spacing we can confirm that. Power wise you'll have to modify your cable as it will not plug and play on the Multi from what I can see.
I have had a look at this, but find it hard to identify which specific unit I would need for the garmin. (and it german) The measurements on the back of the cradle are 30mmx40mm. Touratech do some little bar type mount that fits on the top bar clamp, any comments on that as the garmin was mounted on a tubular section, and there is a clamp on the rear of the cradle? In your opinion is this plug a job I will be able to do?( I have the mechanical ability of a brick) or is it 'Auto electrician' ground?...the word 'modify' and me are not friends!!
Good news, the 30 x 40mm mounting is the standard Garmin spacing so a navihalter for a Zumo 600 series would fit. Electrically it's a simple job changing the terminals over to match the Multi, if you can't do it, I'm sure someone on here closer to you would give you a dig out.
If you don't want the cost of a navihalter, there's a ram mount ball which fits Garmins, having looked at your photos again it looks like the mounting is offset to the side of the unit so a ram mount would probably work better for you.
I have just emailed them to check on shipping costs and timescale. I quite like the look of the ram mount ball idea, and at 99Euro's shipped the Navilhalter aint cheap as you say, from my reading it apparently does hinder the use of the screen adjuster as well...not to keen on that. Is this what you are refereeing to: If so, do you know of a specific type that will work and is available in the uk? I really appreciate your help, cheers......(what I don't want to do is buy a load of kit without the bike sitting in front of me, I could drop a few clangers there)
I have a Ram mount on the back of my BMW Navigator 11 bracket fitted to my ST2.Not the same bike but a similar cradle,I would absolutely recommend the RAM ball system really nice and secure
I saw this on Fleabay, it seems to fit the bill....any comments? any better ones? UltimateAddons U Bolt Motorcycle Bike Mount + 1" 25mm Ball + AMPS Adapter Plate | eBay Gotta be worth a punt at twenty squids I guess?
