A lady at work told me her brother used to race a Ducati around 40 years ago, and she just emailed me a picture. Does anyone recognise the bike, i'm curious of the model and what year it could be? Thanks.
I have a copy of Ducati Racers by Ian Falloon and although the fairing and front forks could be early 70s the drum brake is definitely earlier. There are no photographs in the book that are exactly the same as your photo but I'm guessing if it's a 60s bike it's likely to be a single cylinder so a 250 or 350. Not sure if the late 60s 450 was a single. Hope someone has better pictures to make a positive ID. Andy
At a guess I suggest a 1961-1963 250 Diana (AKA Daytona). 40 years ago bike racers tended to use full face helmets and the bikes looked a bit more like they do today. His kit looks more like the stuff used up to the 60s.
Yes Andy, the 450 was a single. Ducati's first V-twin engine was, surprisingly, the 1970's round case 750. The 500 parallel twins started life in about '73
