nasty accident over hartside today

  1. well I otherwise had a great ride out today
from morpeth to rothbury to keilder to bellingham to Corbridge to alston to hartside cafe....
was superb except for a nasty nasty accident I just missed on the way upto the cafe from alston...
..seemingly someone (or possibly 2) have been coming the other way down to alston and have got it all wrong....skidded across the road and into a drystone wall down the embankment....
2 x air ambulance and the whole road closed off with police...

really took the edge of the ride and am spareing a thought for those involved...

go easy dudes and dudesses....1st sunny day for a long time and everyones a little rusty make sure it isnt you next ride out...

  2. We've had it rough over here over the last few days. Fatal on A69 at start of month, big accident at LowRow yesterday and fatal lat night on A69 again.

  3. Might have been one near here today. I saw the Air Ambulance on it's way to Leeds, coming from the general direction of Helmsley.

  4. oooh sorry moderators
just realised this is in the wrong section.

bloody tapatalk app on phone is confusing lol and I thought I was somewhere else !

  5. Sadly always happens at start of good weather.
    1. People go a bit looney after winter or maybe rusty.
    2. Cars are worse then ever at looking out for bikes as not as many on road after winter.

So case of go easy at first and if a cage driver be more vigilant .
Hope they are all ok never good

  6. I was going to head up there on Saturday, but got bogged down with some jobs I had to get done.

Hopefully both riders involved are ok

  7. Wonder if they hit the gravel drifts/potholes?, I was up there on Friday and the winter has not been kind to that road.

  8. No probs. Moved to Lounge

  9. Yea they were doing a bit of work on it over winter, so you go from decent smooth tarmac to suddenly something resembling pea gravel.

    Hope all involved are ok.
