  1. Hello guys, new to the forum and ducati scene, hopefully to sign on the dotted line this week. Anyways I wanna know if the cable for a Garmin Zumo 660 will plug in just like the official ducati Garmin. Reason being I wanna get a touratech lockable cradle and they don't do it for official ducati garmin. Any help is appreciated.

  2. Hi and welcome to the forum :D Congrats on the choice of bike :D

Power for the Zumo (any Garmin) - will not connect direct to the dedicated on bike GPS power connector. Worth a search on the forum here as there's loads of info but here's loads I've compiled in one place:
    Motorcycle Info Pages - Misc MTS1200 Articles > MTS1200 GPS / SatNav

When you get the bike put yourself on the map: Multistrada Owners Maps ;-)
....and enter your bike details in your Profile :D

Oh and another link for you:

  3. Cheers for that link, Andy. I bough a Garmin 390 for mine last week and am hoping to look at wiring it in this weekend.

  4. Thank you Andy. So it is just the Ducati sat nav that plugs in? That's irritating. Does anyone know of a locking cradle for the Ducati garmin? Why has no one made a specific cable?

  5. it is just the ducati one thjat plugs in, but thats not the full story.

Take a look at andys link. There is a connector under the left side of the tank, and Ducati supply the mating part with cable tails on it. You can therefore wire your garmin supply to this. Just make sure it is a 12v supply you need and not a 5v one !

Alternatively, if your not techy I might be able to help
I can either make you an adaptor lead, or an extension lead to get a socket up into the area on the left by the fuses, so its easy to remove the cradle if you wish. I use the latter on my bike so I can easily remove the cradle without needing to have the tank off.

on a slightly different front, the 660 has a very long cable harness, and it may well be better to shorten this, or modify it to reduce the bulk of cable you need to lose.
Again, have a look at andy site (the top link he specified) as he has details about this.

    Hope that helps.

  6. Sorry didn't mean to re-post that last post. Yea well I have had a look, I just don't like the idea of cutting things up. I have decided I want the touratech lockable mount, not fussed bout removing it but obviously wanna lock GPS to the bike. Just looking at what I need for a neat install. I would like to have plugged into that specific plug instead of running wires everywhere.

  7. You still can plug into that specific socket, but you need to get the end of the 660 loom under the tank to where it is.
Once you have done that, it is simply a matter of making sure you connect the right way around to the wire tails they have already provided for exactly this scenario.
There is no issue here except getting access, and if your happy to remove panels and raise the tank, that is easily accomplished too.

My only comment beyond the above is to ensure whatever you fit, remember that the tank is removed to service the bike. You need to ensure whatever you fit can be moved / replaced easily
    Hope that helps.
