Need a new rear shock 999S

  1. My 999S trackbike rear Showa is toast - the adjusting screw is all in and there is still too little damping. I'm losing my rear tire out of curves.

Now what to get - where to get - what to pay?

Is there only Øhlins? I need something that can be taken apart and serviced and with a 85 kg spring.

  2. if i end up breaking my bike I've got an Ohlins re-valved and re-sprung (watch this space)

  3. Plenty of options, Maxton would be my choice after ohlins

  4. Maxton or Nitron. Both British built and will be cheaper to buy new than Ohlins.

  5. Thanks all - I found another original (but working) Showa that I will get mounted and setup tomorrow for my upcoming 2 trackdays on Anderstorp, which is a really fast track. The Showa was what I could find right now and that gives me the time to find something better.

If it feels right and works as it should I will probably delay the upgrade to a winter project for both rear and front suspension.

  6. I'm after a rear shock for my 749s, might be interested depending on price.

  7. A fellow trackdriver returned from Anderstorp raceway yesterday and dumped a top-notch MUPO racing rear shock into my lap. It always pays off to spread the word but I didn't expect to finde something great this fast.

I dumped the Showa in a second and today I'm getting the MUPO put on and setup and now I am really looking forward to go racing wednesday with a 'new', stiffer and safer bike setup.

Edit: That's more like it, the bike feels a lot more 'solid' now and it looks pretty good too!
