As titled I've used up the Super Corsa's that come factory fitted and I'm looking at other options. I'm liking the Bridgestone S20 evo's, is anyone using them? What have you got and what are the good and bad points for them?
ive used Supercorsa,s since i bought the bike new 3 years ago , fancied a change just to see how other tyres worked on the 1199 so fitted a set of Metzler rr Racetecs recently and so far i cant fault them , put 600miles on them first week , bike fels like it is turning in quicker due to the profile , excellent grip and feel . well worth considering
Hubby had S20 evos on his R1,absolutely loved them,great grip right from the off,and really good in the wet,being able to be confident cornering.
I've just got 3500 miles out of my SC's in a year and they have even wear front & rear. I've just bought the Bridgestone S20 Evo's after a bit of shopping around I found a set for £215 on Ebay. Have done 3900 on my sc's and they still have lots more in them. Will go for Metzeler next, especially after watching the TT.
Thanks for all your input guy's. It's interesting to see what peoples experiences and opinions are. I've also read a few reviews and you could end up going around in circles (excuse the pun!) There are reviews by moto jurno's and racers alike but I think if you go for one of the main manufacturers and get the tyre for your needs, mine fast road use and the odd track day maybe then you can't go far wrong. I've used Michelin Pilot Power 3, Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 2's, Continental Race Attacks, Pirelli Super Corsa's, so will be interesting to see how the Bridgestone's compare???
3,500 ?? I barely made it to 3,000 on my 1199 and the bike was new in January this year Mate has the M7rr's on his 1199 he says they are awesome akso says it turns in quicker too. Not sure what I will fit next, I want a bit more life out of a tyre than 3,000 miles.
My first time with super corsas and they feel like they're super glued to the road, no wonder they don't last long.
I love the really glued to the road feeling of the super corsas, so I'm sticking with them. My front is nearing the end and has done 3500, may make 4000. The rear is at around 2750 and still appears to have plenty of life in it yet.
Supercorsa's 1400 clicks game over on the 12 , fitted M7rr 's had them on my old 11 brilliant all weather temp tyre , SC are brill when hot & sunny but how often is that , M7rr are a more realistic tyre for UK temps & roads , prob's get 2500 clicks out of them cheaper too , the 12 has tyre recalibrate system on board easy to change tyre over .
Bought the Bike new in May '12 , did a tour round NI shortly afterwards and in the wet the bike was unrideable with stock SC's to the point where it felt dangerous. Got home and junked them for a set of Michelin PR3's much to Ducati's horror..The dealer was not sure whether they wanted to put them on as i stepped down to a 190 rear, quoting disclaimers and warranty etc etc...Now have over 10K miles on the bike on PR3's. Cant fault them, great in the wet and good in the dry, not as good as stock obviously in the dry but better all round for Uk weather and good enough for road riding. Had to tweak the DTC settings and have had no issues since....Just about to fit a set of PR4's for the Pyrenees next week, so i'm hoping they are as good.
I stick with various flavours of Pirelli SuperCorsas as I like the sticky feedback. The only problem is they dont last very long; normally 2-3000 miles on the Panigale and only a little more on my previous R1. I had some Rosso Corsas when coming back through Europe which were a lot better in the wet and hardly looked touched after 2500 miles and probably would have lasted 5000 or more miles if I hadn't tracked them. I was glad to see the back of them though and get back to the SuperCorsas with their steeper profile. They are terrible on wet roads though. No problem on motorways but the twisty mountain roads get emotional! I'd reluctantly go back to the Rosso Corsas or some alternative if I was touring and planned to ride in bad weather.
I've stuck with Super C's since I got the bike. Initially because there was no alternative and since, because the price has dropped somewhat. Yes, they do wear quickly, but I can get 3500ish out of a set without having to sacrifice performance. MCN ( I think ) did a recent comparison with the latest competition and the Super C's came out the best for the Super-Sport category. Having an 1199 is always something of an expense , but going for a lower grip, longer lasting alternative seems false economy to me at least.
hi ive just come back from riding round the mountains in spain it was 38 0c most days i was on my ducati 848 streetfighter the bike had done 800 miles before i left for spain i put a new rear tyre on the day before we left did 20 miles to scrub it in got the ferry to spain then straight into the mountains i heard the rosso corsa was good for 2500 miles i distroyed it in 1400 miles edge to edge had to buy a new rear in spain a metzler sport teck m3 only tyre they had great grip off the roso tyres the front was shot by the time i got home that was on from new did 2700 miles great feal just got a metzler to match the rear not fitted yet not sure how they will feal compared to the roso,s but only 1400 miles from the rear not good
