I'm looking for a key blank to create another backup key, so I can conveniently open my gas tank. An electronic chip is not needed. Any suggestions or sources? Mike Osmer
I WAS HAVING A MACHINE CERRAJERO DUPLICATE KEYS AND SIMPLE WITHOUT asked for a copy MICROCHIP, AND I DID THE TIME FOR 6 EUROS
Thanks, Jose....How do I go about getting the blank key? Do you have a name and address and e-mail of the business that does that? Please advise...Much appreciated...Mike Osmer
Ducati dealer can sell you a blank (dumb) key. The Diavel one is the same. Then you can use the Red key to get another one cut. These guys seem to sell transponder ones (in the USA), maybe they can help? Key Blank w/ Transponder Ducati Multistrada 1200S NEW | eBay
That key is a JMA ZA14P, listed for Aprilias. It can carry a transponder chip but doesn't need it. I got one from my local locksmith for a tenner including cutting to fit.

This keyless thing is so inconvenient. If you had a normal key in the ignition you would just transfer it to the tank lock, fill gas and then back to ignitIon. Now you have to take the key out of a pocket ( a pocket that is waterproof since the key is not) then insert it in the gas lock and keep it there untill filling is done ( because you cannot just pop the gas cap shut without the damn large Audish key)! Oh and to lock the steering you have to waste at least twice the time it would take to turn and remove the old fashioned key. Anyone from Ducati listening?
Please don't fit the electronic fuel tank lock. It has no key and if it fails to work you are left stranded. I know this from bitter experience. Two weeks after shelling out over three hundred pounds for the upgrade it failed to open for the second time. Unfortunately this time I was a couple of hundred miles from the dealer who refused to help. My bike was just out of warranty and the fact that they had fitted this electronic cap just two weeks previously did not matter to them! I had it removed as I did not want this to happen on a trip to Europe.
