New 848 Evo Owner

  1. Thanks for the welcome, been a member for a week or so just taking it all in. New to forums so be gentle on me haha.
Also could I have some advice on the 848 EVO, I had a 675 Daytona SE which I part ex'ed as Iv always wanted a Ducati since I was a child even though the Daytona was a great bike and knew her intimately, she also had a fair bit of torque and loved dropping it down a gear coming into corners using the engine breaking and feeling the rear dance around a bit and get slightly loose, mistake on the 848 I descovered, looked the wheel right up which stood me up and luckily had a run off area so could take the right hand corner wide. With these twins is it best to blip on change to get the engine wheel speed similar as found this helps but when riding spiritedly, a few times Iv not had the chance to and it gets really loose and locks up with brown marks appearing in my underwear. I know it's me not the bike and the characteristic of a twin and will soon get the hang of it but any pointers and changes to my style of riding would be appreciated weather it's changing down well before the corner or so on. Bare in mind Iv only ridden her 3 times and around 200 miles and she also has brand new tyres on her. I also have found she does not fight me so much if I command her and really take control rather than being smooth, really like her feistiness over the smooth Daytona. So its all new to me but want to have confidence in her when I changing down coming in to corners. I don't want a slipper clutch as want to master this exotica and get her dancing for me rather than fighting me as the times Iv got it right there is no better feeling and we are making friends and getting to know each other all the time.
Also can you recommend a quick shifter, can't find much on her about the 848 only 749's and also levers, like ASV and bid on a set on eBay that I saw got sold on her only a hour or so ago so bit gutted I missed out on them but is there any other makes I should also look at like pezzo or crg.
    Cheers Darren

  2. Welcome Dave. Consensus of opinion on an aftermarket QS is from HM.

  3. I feel like Rodney when trigger always calls him Dave
Yeah was looking at HM but a few choices of Superlite, Plus and Plus SS. It's only road riding so would assume the Superlite should suffice.

  4. Hi Rodney, welcome :)

  10. Hello & welcome evotech long levers are good. Maybe a 14T front sprocket and decent seat will help. :upyeah:

  11. I do have a tendency to use a 1000 words when 4 will do :Muted: ha

And yeah she is red, nearly bought the White EVO, stunning looking bike but for me, like Ferrari's Ducati's have to be red.

  12. Just been reading up on the 14T front sprocket, might do that when I change the chain and rear sprocket. And you say a decent seat, not sure if your serious or having a laugh at my expense hahaha

  13. Welcome in, 3 musts (IMHO) are a grippy seat, ducati performance one worked well for me, not the super pole seat as it didn't like that it raised the seat height. Also 14t sprocket is an absolute must else it's a pig in town! And finally an Oberon clutch slave cylinder, it makes a big difference. Don't worry about changing exhausts and stuff, the stock ones sound ok, I would spend the cash on getting the suspension sorted

I think I will get on well with this forum :upyeah:. I will promise to keep my posts to the minimum from now on but can't promis that my spelling, punctuation or grammar will ever be right such is the burden of dyslexia but it will give you guys and girls some laughs I'm sure :)

  17. It's got the slash cut on there already but will be hunting down a Ducati Performace seat on eBay and also Oberon clutch slave cylinder, thanks for the advice :upyeah:

  18. Changing the standard seat for a DP one is one of the best mods you can do to the bike. :upyeah:
