Hi all... Due to pick her up this tuesday & cannot wait!! I've upgraded from my 02 plate R6 & wanted something a bit special and a bit more power.... I'd be interested to hear from 848 owners who like me upgraded from a 600cc straight four... What can I expect to find different between my current vs the 848?

Shes an 08 plate.. one owner from new with just over 7k on the clocks.
Many thanks & looking forward to lots of banter & sound advice.

  2. Well done you! It will be a totally different riding experience but once you get used to it, you'll never want to ride an IL4 again....except as a 2nd bike perhaps. For what it's worth, there are a few things I'd recommend.....

    1. Get the suspension professionally set up for you.
    2. If it has Pirellis on it, change them for Michelins e.g. Power Pure 2CTs
    3. Get a 41 tooth rear sprocket

By the way...check it's had the recall done for the heat shield / rectifier and see if it's blown the radiator and had it replaced. If the radiator hasn't gone then it probably will.....look out for moisture on left hand fairing vent. A dealer will most probably change the rad and associated bracket at no cost. Not a recall but I think most of the earlier models had this problem. After the rad was replaced mine never had any other probs.

The only other thing on my 1st 848 was that it used to cut out at low speeds when hot .....this was a throttle body adjustment that was sorted and was cured ok.

    Enjoy!:upyeah:

  5. Thanks mate.. I'll double check that too... Great advice.. I'll look into the gear ratio upgrade, aside from new levers & Maybe a stompgrip for the tank I think I'll keep her as clean as possible... My R6 was part chopped against the 848 & had a shed load of jewelry on her (pro bolt / decals / akrapovic slip on)... while these things in my opinion looked ok, the duc dealer looked at her as if she was covered in cow cr@p lol.. lesson learnt

  6. That's dealers for ya...That'll be in their showroom advertised as having all the "desirable" accessories...
Welcome to the forum, they're brilliant bikes...:upyeah:

  7. You know it!!... No matter the make all dealers are the same...

  8. Great choice, best real world sports bike out there. Welcome to the club

  9. I have two of the recommendations that Keninsussex mentioned on mine and would recommend them both.

Tyre wise I've just put a set of Diablo Rosso II's on but haven't managed many miles since.

If your putting short levers on, I would recommend a bigger slave cylinder too, I put an Oberon one on and love it.

The 848 is a completely different animal to the 636 I part ex'ed for it, but I also had an RSV so I knew what to expect from the twin.

  10. Hello and welcome, enjoy the bike when you get it.

  11. keninsussex hit the nail on the head......I done the exact same only I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket.
all them mods make the bike so much better :D

  12. As Ken said.............you WILL enjoy
